Semor Class History Does rt not seem hard to realrze that the Class of 1951 now confrontrng you rn all rts strength and beauty wrth rts wealth of experrence wrrtten on rts varrous features, was ever a class of srlly young Freshmen? S1lly young Freshmen mdeed Wrth nothrng rn therr brarns but a lot of nonsense and nothrng rn therr open actrons but a lot of giggles, yet such rs the fact That a lot of srlly empty headed rattle brarned youngsters could ever have developed rnto yonder noble handsome thoughtful and wrse appearrng Senrors rs rndeed somethzng to be thankful for Whom shall we thank? Well varrous people Frrst I suppose the estrmable and noble mrnded men and women comprrsrng the school board next the Superrntendent for hrs chorce of teachers and the car wrth whrch he has prepared our schedule of study and znsrsted upon rts farthful executron Next the teachers who have so farthfully and patrently worked over our empty brarns for the last four years and at last suc eeded rn not only puttrng some valuable materral rnto them but have helped them to acqurre the power of grvrng somethrng out Some of us have been together since Freshman days Ellen Alderrn Jean R1chter Frreda Lrnk Kent Janssen, and Frank Leupp Judith Ellrott Joined us rn our Senror year Frank and Judrth graduated durrng the frrst semester thus leavrng only four agarn Fern Buchman Marron Suess Luan Kruckenburg Alrce Frscher Raymond Lang Ervrn Borner Marvrn Janssen and reached therr goal To such ones we can only say we have weathered a good many storms together and have found school lrfe not all a bed of roses But we must truthfully admrt that what ever trouble and annoyance has come to us has been largely our own fault and natural result of our own carelessness mdrfference or outrrght drsobedrence to rules whrch we understood perfectly well I wrsh I could prcture to you thrs class as I vrsualrze rt now when rt f1r st entered thrs hall of learnrng Our frrst wonder was that a gzrl so devoted to her books as JEAN could ever become so profrcrent rn basketball The ever recurrmg questron rs How dad she frnd the t1l'I'lC7 When she rs rn the mrdst of the most engrossrng game we expect to see her pause and read aloud a verse or two from her favorrte poet We were prepared to frnd KENT carryrng off all the honors rn Englrsh hrs remarkable profrcren y rn pronuncratron was at once a wonder and a Joy to every Freshman But then wonders wrll never cease on thrs mundane sphere We should always be lookrng for them Even so we were not prepared to frnd the lrttle grrl ELLEN who when she entered thrs lass had hardly passed beyond the mud pre stage bloomrng out rnto a frrst class reader of frctron books In closrng I wrsh to say that the only reason I accepted the posr run of class hrstorran was because by so dorng as rt rs never good form to talk about one s self I should thereby be exempt from all open crrtrcrsm I am now rn a posrtron where there can be no talkrng back therefore rf you have any uncomplrmentary thoughts about me rn your m1nd at least you cannot tell them here so whatever the future may hold for me I am at least exempt for the present and for that and your patrent attentron I can truly say thank you Kenny Thompson were with us throughout some of the four years, but dropped before they had I D - . . . , ,, . . . .
