School Board And Administration Work Together Russell McMeans Corene Manning Superintendent Business Manager Upon the reccomendation of administrative per- sonnel, the school board took action on several not- able items. Their importance depended upon the point of view but all together served to further the interest of the school district. Nlomentous to the students was the abolition of the existing dress code. A catering policy was adopted whereby all food was prepared in the junior high cafeteria, after which a portion was transported to be served in the . , high school cafeteria. Danny Jones, secretary to superintendent, Lisa Stanley, The high school gym was re-roofed and the bookkeepel' floor refinished. Windows on the north and west walls of the high school main building were bricked- in to cut down on vandalism and fuel consumption, Some repairs and improvements were made on the bleachers.- The board approved a paving project to connect existing paving around the elementary and junior high building Also approved was the carpeting of three more rooms in the underground building. A four year participant in football, basketball, and golf, Gary received honorable mention all-district honors for football his junior year. This year he is president of student council, FCA, and vice-president of the senior class. Gary is also a mem- ber of FFA and has served as Dis- trict president his sophomore year and area vice-president during his junior year. Rae Avery, a senior, has been a band member for eight years. She has won awards in solo and ensemble competion, participated in all- region band for one year, and is a four year member of the stage band. Rae has been a member of the science and maths clubs, and stu- dent council. She is presently a member of NHS and co-editor of the annual. She was a member of Who's Who in American High School Students her junior year and the Society of Distinguished High School Students both junior and senior years. A twirler for the past two years, Jo Mims, is an eight year band mem- ber, four year all-region band mem- ber.and solo and ensemble winner. Jo has been a member ofthe math club, science club, NHS, FTA, and is presently treasurer of the student council and senior class and sec- retary of the FHA. She has won awards of merit in health, consumer education, home and family living, and English in her high school car- eer. Jo is a member of the Society of Distinguished High School Stu- dents. Alan Douglas is presently serv- ing as vice-president of the student council and FCA. He has participat- ed in track and football for three years, receiving honorable mention honors his junior year and all-dis- trict for the 1975 season. Alan was elected Pep Squad Beau, FHA Beau, and Mr. SHS this past year. He was elected to FacuIty's Who's Who last year and is currently a member of Who's Who in American High School Students. Aside from the perpetual yells, chants, and musical skills provided by the band and twirl- ers, skits and competition IB-E-A-T7 were included. The rallies occured in various places, such as the auditorium lWhat could be more spirited than a black light pep rally on Hal- loween?l, the SHS parking lot, and the football stadium. At homecoming, a community pep rally was held at the Dairy Queen. 1. Mrs. Mitchell and Miss Sadler assisted Mrs. Alexander and Coach Bowman in performing an operation on Coach Gregory in a skit presented by faculty members at the pep rally preceeding the Plains game. 2. Mike Hudson portrays a Wall hawk in the home coming pep rally. 3. Raye Jones, Tamala Allred, Connie Christon, Terrie Oldaker, and Mary Perez lead the crowd in Boogie Down . 4. The result was a fine display of talent and success Critics tested the young actors' ability when the cast performed fore a local audience, then in dis- trict competition.
