' He has built in Stanton a Department of Vocational Agriculture second to none in West Texas. In the Ag building many banners ornament the walls, telling the story of achievernents in all phases of vocational agriculture. Five trophies in the trophy case of the front corridor proclaim winnings of entries in county, district, and state Stock and Poultry Shows. Leadership has been the key work of this man's activities. In 1953 he received the Meritorious Service AwardofEl Rancho District in recognition of outstanding contributions to Advancement of Vocational Agriculture andthe FFA above local level. The Teacher's Service Plaque for service above local level in the West Texas District was given to him in 1955. Under his guidance the FFA ofStantonhas reached the rating of a Gold Emblem Chapter in Area II. His interest inboys begins with the GreenHands of FFA and reaches far into placement of his leaders in positions of responsibility in the adult world. It is with pleasure and admiration that we, The Annual Staff, dedicate The Roundup of 1957 to Mr. E. D. Steele, the teacher of Vocational Agriculture in Stanton High School.
