Pour in brimming measure of the milk of human kindness and season well with the salt of common sense. Boil gently over a. friendly fire made of fine enthusiams, stirring constantly with just discipline. When it has boiled long enough to be thoroughly blended, trans- fuse it by wise teaching. Tomorrow he will greet you an educated man. ,vang . , af Grade School Building M- A , is ' O. W. Winstead Superintendent of School High School Building , ,aff 9 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. In recognition of this truth our school endeavors to train young minds to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, as well as to train for a successful vocation. Having so trained your mind you can look b ack to your school days with a joyful satisfaction. I congratulate each of you for your fine school spirit and cooperation in making this a successful school year. tw awww A. Ellmore johnson Grade School Principal Someone has said, Great Oaks from Little A- coms Grow. This is true, not only in forest life, but in our own life. God gave each of us a mind and a body, what we make out of these gifts is up to each individual. Are you willing to sit back and watch others develop? If someone has a better education, etc., just remember we were all created equal. May each of you attain the greatest heights on the ladder of success. ' fel M. R. It was a day of great confusion for the teachers, Oh! but the kids had fun. At that time they started their wild rush through twelve years of school. To the dismay of the poor little dears the class had to be divided into two groups and two poor teachers had to guide the crowd through their first year. In one room Mrs. Joe Gray lasted all of two weeks while in the other, Mrs. Rams ey took it a little longer. Miss Eves took over after Mrs. Gray left, today you will find her in a mental institution, she stayed allyear. Miss Wee Bell Hargett, known as Miss Wee Bell to her loving pupils, took Miss Ram- sey's place. Sixteen of the sixty beginners stood the pace and remained to graduate. Paige Eiland who Miss Eves carried piggy-back, Jeanette Graves, who cried all the time, Donald Abery, the sneaky rascal, Mary Ivy Baulch, He n s on then, wasted all of her paper so she could use her boy friend's paper sack, Norman Blocker, already writing love letters, Wayne Butcher, holy terror, Angie Chesser and Wayne Petree, started young, held the door against the teacher, Joyce Davenport, the baseball slugger,Mary Lynn Hamilton and Wayne Reynolds, our first real romance, E uge nia M a r tin could not read about Spot, called it Pot, Eula Belle Mott, first Halloween Queen, Beanie Tunnell, McCoy then, spent the first week crying for Sue Zimmerman, Mary Beth White and Y vonne Ory, giggled during the Bible Story, Lora Lou Pierce the knock-kneed little lass. In the third grade, we c aught up with Rosco Thomas. In the fourth, the classes joined again to the delight of all, except Miss Alvis. The multiplication tables we re pounded into our hard heads. In Mrs. Batton's fifth grade the outstanding event was the big chuck wagon party for our parents at the end of school. Charles Pierce joined in the wild rush during this year. The sixth grade was our most hectic year. Wayne Butcher fought off the teachers while the rest of the class sat on the s id e line cheering him on. Melba Burchett,Linda Pitts, Paula Russell, and Ruby Ratliff, joined the class in the sixth grade. In the seventh grade, we had different teachers foreach subject for the first time. Willie Mae East, Joyce Burchett, and Robert Lomax entered to add to the confusion. The Eighth Grade Banquet was the big event of the eighth year, Rurnmage sales were the most fun and the race for Halloween Queen with the seventh grade added excitement to the year. We won, but never since. Now comes High School. The biggest event of our lives. High Schoolwas never the same again. This was the less profitable and most exciting year so far in our lives. Virgil Pol- son and Georgia Glaze joined to help make the high school years a success. The next year dragged by with all the misfortunes that could possibly befall a class, ex- cept that two new students joined this group, Shirley Wilkerson and Jean Stanfield. These two entered with lots of vim and vigor. Being Juniors gave us a better opportunity to enter into social activities. We introduced the first Junior and Senior Prom - it was a real s uc ce s s. Jere Coon, a star basketball player joined to finish the last two years with us. Now to bring this his to ry up to date, there are thirty-four proud and dignified QI hopel seniors that are going to graduate May 17, 1954, and to climax those twelve years ofhard work and lots of fun, with a wonderful trip to New Orleans.
