Foreword Our Fiftieth Year The world has changed vastly in the last fifty years. Progress that no man dreamed possible has been made and is be- ing made each day. In its own way Stanton County High School has been a part of this progress. Since its first graduating class of three people in 1918, Stanton County High has grown and expanded to be the modern institution of learning it is today. Courses have improve and new ones have been added to the high school curriculum. Technological advances have made new equipment available for use as learning aids and better tTained teachers have pro- vided new learning experiences for the growing number of students. As the quality of the educational system has risen, Stan- ton County High School is better preparing its Trojans today to be the leaders of tomorrow. This 1968 Trojan shows the progress made during the year and the work done as the students prepare to be leaders in our modern world. JOHN W. HARPER Superintendent SCHOOL BOARD: STANDING-Howard Cambell, Harry Bilbery Lewis Shore, Pres.; Eugene Freisen, Vice Pres.; Wayne Snell. An educated student is not one whose memory is trained to carry a few dates in history--he is one who can ac- complish things. A student who cannot think is not an educated person, how- ever many degrees he may have ac- quired. Thinking is the hardest work anyone can do--which is probably the reason why we have so few thinkers. There are two extremes to be avoided: one is the attitude of comtempt toward education, the other is the tragic snob- bery of assuming that marching through an educational system is a sure cure for ignorance and mediocrity. Many students are like a wheelbar- row--not good unless pushed. Some are like canoes--they have to be paddled. Some are like kites--if you don't keep a string on them, they fly away. Some are like footballs--you can't tell which way they'll bounce next. Some are like trailers--they have to be pulled. Some are like a good watch--open faced, pure gold, quietly busy, and full of good works. God will not look you over for med- als, degrees, or diplomas, as important as they are, but for good deeds, chari- ty, and to see if you have been a disci- ple of the Golden Rule. Sincerely, 0 John W. Harper Earl Arnold, John W. Harper, Supt. SITTING-
