Teachers At Work Preparing for the chemistry class, Mr. Downs checks equip- ment. Mr. Ogletree checks to see that Greg is typing okay. Striving to prov ide a logical and precise picture of science, the science department stressed theories, models, and generalizations that show the unity of science. In Mr. Morris's class of general science, the students were busy dissecting pigs and various other ani- mals. Mr. Morris's extracurricular activities consisted of coaching basket- ball and track, and of being a senior class sponsor. Mr. Downs, also a senior class sponsor, taught biology , chemistry and physics. He kept his students busy by dissecting animals in biology, ex- perimenting in chemistry, and solving problems in physics. The main aims of the Math depart- ment were to prepare students for living successfully in our modern scientific world and to give a basis for a techno- logical career. Mr. Parks was kept busy teaching Algebra I and II, and Geome- try. Mr. Downs was involved in the Math department as the teacher of General Math. Whether a student plans for a ca- reer or for college after high school graduation, he will find that some of his most valuable courses are those in the business education department. General education should include the understanding of all aspects of life. If it fails to do so, it does not achieve its purpose. Coach Ogletree taught business law, typing I and II, shorthand, book- keeping and business math. Mr. Ogle- tree's extracurricular activities in- cluded coaching basketball, football and being a sophomore class sponsor. ACTUALLY, it's very simple, says Mr. Parks.
