Since music is our theme tonight. I'll write a simple rhyme. It's up to you to write the score; I really haven't time. You're quite a class of seniors now. Fifteen, you're brave and strong. And now you're on your upward flight I'm sure you won't go wrong. And just a pace behind them here You Juniors race along. Before you know it you will be As gallant and as strong. Now on occasions such as this We always look behind And savor incidents of yore We hope no one will mind. In no position to find out The choicest bits of bother, I hope you each will come to me And tell me of the other. Through years I've gathered quite a store Of stories gay and funny. I wouldn't trade them off, you know For any kind of money. When I retire from this mad whirl And settle down to ponder. I'll take them out, yes, one by one And chuckle till folks wonder. Now won't I have a heap of fun When Osage Beach I think of? Remember how Renee and Bubbles Put me on the brink of? Another thing that I'll recall When Osage comes to mind— How Bob and Orin came to like The Tonganoxie kind. And how some girls that I may name Down there where all is piney— Claressa, Jo Ann and Carolyn All fell for handsome Tiny. Marsha, too, so I've been told 'Mid his admirers counted. I'd put her in the other verse But meter won't allow it. Jocelyn is a pretty name. Ask Shannon if you doubt it. Moundridge is a nice town, too. Remember, don't you flout it. The sentiment remains the same For Scotty Lorlovick. Except the name, instead, is Pam. This gave us quite a kick. About a boat there's something fine; It takes your breath away. It's Bill, the boatman, Judy says. She rode most every day. Nancy wouldn't tell us then Nor since we have returned Which one she thought the most of. We know they weren't all spurned. Delmer favored many girls With his attentions daily; And Sharon, a Missouri lass. He flirted with most gaily. We missed the four who didn't go, Pat, Peggy, Bill and Bonnie. I'll have to look elsewhere, I guess. For laughs for my manana. Now Juniors, Sponsers, Mothers all. Accept our fervent thanks. For this most pleasant evening Take thanks and yet more thanks. I hope it hasn't bored you much— This halting, faltering trifle. I bring this now unto it's close No more yawns you'll need to stifle. By Prof. Reid 23
