Leora Ennis Clifford Pepper Senior Trip April 8. Dear Diary, We finally got on our way this morning at 8:12 a.m. for our long awaited trip to the Ozarks. We ate dinner in Pratt at the Serva-teria and stopped at Wichita U. about 2:00 p.m. Supper was eaten in Coffeyville at 6:00. We finally arrived in Noel, Mo., our destin- ation forthe first night, at 11:00 p.m. We were really a tired bunch of Seniors and sponsors that turned in that night. April 9. We ate breakfast in Noel and started on to Con- way, Ark. On the way we stopped at an Old Spanish Treasure Cave and a Civil War Supply Cave. We took pictures at both places and bought souveniers. We ate lunch at the Sky-Vue Cafe. About 4:00 we stopped and every- one had some refreshments. We reached Conway about 7:00, un- loaded the cars, and then went to the movie, The Were-Wolf and Flying Saucers v.s. Earth. We went to the motel after eating and watched T.V. until midnight April 10. We ate breakfast and checked out of the Spear Motel. We toured a bus factory and a shoe factory, before leaving Conway. We ate lunch at Harrison, arrived at Springfield at 7:00 p.m., and ate dinner. Plans were made to go to the show, after which we were all going to go skating or bowling. We were leaving the Motel when our car collided with another motorist. After every- thing was cleared up and the matter was settled, it was later than we had expected but one car load went to a skating rink and watched a group perform who had taken skating lessons. We went back to the motel and watched T.V. until 1:00 a.m. April 11. We ate breakfast and started on the long drive to Kirkwood. We ate lunch at Buffalo, Missouri, at the Besson Cafe and arrived at Kirkwood before dinner. After instructions were given, we were assigned to our rooms. Some of us went boating; others found entertainment in the recreation room. Dinner was served and at 9:00 p.m. the dance began. Everyone danced with different kids from other schools and there were many new aquintances. The caller, Frank, taught us to square dance and all in all everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great time. April 12. Our class went to Bagnell Dam this morning with the students from Gower, Mo. after eat- ing breakfast. It was very interesting and we also took a tour through the park while on the way back to Kirkwood. After lunch we all went boat riding and then watched T.V. in the Lounge. This evening we ate dinner and then went to the recreation room for the dance. We danced, even though our feet hurt, and really enjoyed ourselves. After refreshments were served, we dance again and that night when bedtime came, there were really a bunch of tired kids. 20 April 13. Affer eating breakfast at 8:30 one car load of us went to Jefferson City to shop and tour the Capitol Building while the other group went to Dog Patch to see the house built against the laws of gravity and the antique cars. Everyone met back at Kirkwood at 4:00 p .m.; we went boat riding and then after supper we took pictures of all the Senior Classes who were at Kirkwood with us. Afterwards the dance began, everyone had loads of fun. At 10:30 everyone met down at the beach for the weiner roast and Frank played the accordion while the group sang. We went back to the recreation room and danced till 1:30 a.m. It was so much fun but everyone was glad to retire after the last dance and good-nights were said. April 14. We arose bright and early Sunday morning at 6:45 to begin our long |ourney home. Glen Elders, Kansas also left when we did. We stopped at Preston for breakfast and drove on to Fort Scott where we attended the church of our choice and then ate dinner at lola, Kansas. Teeters' carload visited Mr. Teeter's sister at Eureka, Kansas and Lindsley's carload visited Margaret and Joe's sister. Sister Dennis at El Dorado, Kansas Then we took the Turn Pike to Wichita; ate dinner at Pratt where Rhota Chapman saw her Aunt Pearl Lu. We arrived at Dodge City at 9:30 and were in Johnson at 11:30 p.m Everyone was completely worn out but the memories were happy ones which will never be forgotten.
