GIRLS CRAFTS How times have changed' The age of chivalry has vanished completely Now women don overalls and do a man s work as well as he does it himself Take Stanley High for example Here the boys are learning to keep house in a class called Home Ec and the girls are just as earnestly pounding nails and sawing boards in an activity called Industrial Arts So far with the guidance of Mr Fuhrman they have made such things as tool chests and utility shelves and together they contemplate the production of lawn chairs for their summers enjoyment They have fun working together and more than that ex perience the satisfaction of achievement THE ANNUAL Among their souvenirs most stu dents will have a copy of this Oriole This book marks an innovation in yearbook publication here in SHS Till now annuals were memory books published by the senior class Now annuals are source materials of good public relations for their schools and as such serve a larger purpose Thus an all school staff elected by their classmates has been chosen for the production of this book Pictured here are Jerry Colburn and Dick Peterson additional mem- bers of the staff who play an im- portant part in the pictorial develop- ment of the annual and Mike Smo- czyk and Milton Timlin who add their strength to the athletic and fi- nancial divisions. Hugh Hayes and Don jay Gjermanson also assist the staff in the athletic and photographic divisions when needed. FUTURE HOMEMAKERS The Future'Homemakers of America is a na- tional organization of students in Home Economics. Its purposes are to further interest in Home Eco- nomics, provide wholesome recreation, and work for better home and community life. Thus, the members have taken active part in the rally held at Stanley this year and at fairs and local demonstra- tions. They also include a Parents' Night in their program. Thinking of others, the group packed Christmas presents for needy children this year, and since good recreation is one of their purposes, also held an all-school Valentine's Dance. Several mem- bers likewise found attendance at the Ice Follies in Minneapolis, in March, very pleasant and instructive.
