The 4-H is a club which has been organized the second semester. The officers are as fol- lows: President, Jeanette Gibbs, Vice Pres- ident, Bonnie Millerg Secretary, Corrine Es- linger, Treasurer, Lavonne Spathg and ad- visor, Miss Anderson. The purpose of this club is to learn more about 4-H club work and what it stands for. Our main goal is Junior Leadership. We have worked on odd jobs to help out other organizations. Mr. Goodspeed and his Science Club have been busy this last year trying to organize something worth while for the future years. In his club he does unusual work such as taxidermy, Semaphore Code, and fascina- ting experiments. The officers are as follows: George Theirl. An: 5 The FHA, Future Homemakers of America, is a club which has existed for a number of years in this high school. With Miss Perman, as advisor, the first meeting was held in Sep- tember at which time initiation for new members was held. The officers were chosen as follows: President, Bev Heiang Vice-President, Pam jankoskig Secretary, Nancy Thorpe: Treasurer, Joan Svomag Historian, Lois Meyer, Editor, Bet- ty Halmstadg Parliamentarian, Delores Draeger. Special events were going on all the time throughout the year. Last October, about thirty-five FHA members traveled to Bloomer to take part in the District Rally. Stanley had sev- eral participants. Nancy Thorpe, who was Stanley's repre- sentative at the State Convention last year, gave a short re- port. FHA week in November was celebrated with displays, clean-up days, a good grooming day, and several other ac- tivities. Christmas vacation saw a group of girls attending a slumber party in the gym. A chili lunch was served and breakfast to the early risers. Some of the girls participated in the State Demonstration Contest which was held March 4 and the District March 11. The final program of the year consisted of awards to outstanding members, parents' re- ception, and style review. The 1952 State Convention will again be held in June at Green Lake. Much success to you in the future. F. F. A. derson, B. Heian, L. Meyer. The acceptance 'of additional duties and responsibilities is nearly always associated with growing up and maturity. This is true of organizations as well as people as they be- come of age. Our FFA shows a growing and progressive participation in group activities, limited in scope and size while as a young chapter to a gradual expansion to a more grown up type of group action program now that we are in our early twenties , Although the Stanley chapter has for a long time had successful young farm people emerge from its membership, these later years have included the greater number of such young farm leaders as part of its harvest. This indicates a pattern of progress which shows the gradual growing up of our FFA program of work. Given opportunity it is interesting to note how wisely the stu- dents with officers from this group act in such a completely grown up manner. The students who are interested in newspaper work have a chance to display their talents here in Stanley High School. The group meets twice a week during the activity hour. A space in the Stanley Republican is reserved for them each week. The column is written by. students and it includes articles on sports, in- dividual students and affairs going on within the school. , The people who hold office are: Editor, Donna Mae Etten, Assistant Editor, Betty Milandg Feature Writers, Jeri Seidling, Bette Fagan, and Marge Broereng Student Council Reporter, Marion Miland. The 1951 - 52 Art Club has accomplishedta number of things with the aid of Miss Evans and Bert Robinson. This year the club has in- creased to. a number of 29 strong. Our work has been varied and interesting to those par- taking. It includes poster layout, lettering, per- spective, plaster molding, painring figurines, portrait drawing, soap carving, and original designing of plates and shelves. With all this, we were acquainted in the course of our work, with pastels, charcoal, water paint, glaze, and lettering pens and brushes. It wasn't all work for we also had a lot of fun. We hope to see many new members with us next year who will also be able to enjoy the benefits the Art Club can give.
