“C14-54 Hl.6f0l'9 on 3 bm-Bht SBPT-Glllber day in the year of l9l+7, thirteen happy dudes rode up to the corral and enrolled at this dear old bunkhouse During the year a couple of cowpokes, Doris Morris and John Newhouse left us for other bunkhouses but we weren't too disappo1nted about that because two of the best bronko busters in the country soon came to join us They were none other than Warren Tollver and Marlene HOWard For our first year Marguerite Hickman was elected as chief fore- man Louise Nickle was her side kick Helen Thorsen was elected as our first hiredhand to act as secretary and Derr1l Granger was the second hlredhand with the office of treasurer Mr Bower was chosen as head bronko buster To start our second year we found that our small group had decreased even more Four of the dudes from last year, Warren Toliver, Gene Barker, Mar1lyn :r1ce and Marlene Howard, decided to take their places as dudes in larger bunk ouses At the semester we were joined by two-gun Fred Herndon Our offlcerg Eere agaln elected and Marguerite Hickman was re-elected as for man Derr1l ranger was made the side kick for this year Helen Thorsen was re-elected to write the notes and our money keeper was Lou1se Nickle Our chief bronko buster for this year was Mr McKinley On September 5, 19149, We resumed our places in the wild and woolly west called nJUD1OT' A couple of cowboys, John Linder and Bill Anderson, joined our group for a while but they moved on to other bunkhouses We also lost that two-gun Fred Herndon Louise Nickle was foreman for this year and Marguerite Hickman was her side kick A cowpoke, Fred Herndon, was chosen to write the notes and Helen Thorsen was chosen to keep the money Mr Mullenax was chosen to lead us buckaroos This was the year we dressed up in our best western suits and kerchiefs and came to the old chuck wagon to honor those bronko busting sen1ors with our beautiful banquet, 'Moonlight and Roses Howdy partners! We are now the best dudes that ever came from this bunk h use, S R H S And why not, we have been here four years To start our final year we found we had gained two cowgirls Carolyn Beckett joined us from Shawnee Mission and Patti Moore decided she would rather graduate with us than next year For our last year Carolyn Beckett was our chief foreman, Louise Nickle, the side kick, Helen Thorse was chosen to write the final notes and Marguerite Hickman to keep the money Coach Mullenax was again chosen as chief bronko buster Our four boys, Johnny Flook, Gene McCorkendale, Derril Granger and Donal Wilson, were the starters on our basketball team Louise Nlckle and Carolyn Beckett were among the girls who lead the cheering from our corral fence Louise and Carolyn were also editors of our school paper, nThe Maroon and White ' So you see this year has been a very successful one for us nine dudes at S R H S .1 O I here at the Stanley bunkhouse. This year we were what these modern westernerl . ., o . . . . -
