Following several discouraging seasons, Stan- Lfw, ford debaters won the Joffre medal and first place in the western public speaking L if..-53 tmlti contest. ' ln CQNIQQN The tendency of student bodies is to sign blank checks of power on election L 5 day to their officers and afterwards watch them fill in the checks at pleasure. Mg gif. ,Qing Election on a gamble was avoided with the choice of the present student officers 'jf who contributed no sm-all part to the smooth running of activities. The student sits' ffl contribution to the endowment, without which the public campaign would have W been crippled, was a piece of work unique in Stanford history. vii.
