Will be so glad when we're out of sight. A Stanford Memo will help you keep track So, in later years, you'll enjoy looking back. This is the Senior yearbook of Sixty-four; As time passes by: SEE HOW WE SC0RE1 CAROLYN CAMENISCH JACKIE DOWNS DEDICATION The seniors of '614. have had the patient guidance and capable teaching of a devoted friend and teacher since we entered the seventh grade. She came, she 3aw, she conquered our minds and our hearts. Her example has helped to guide us through our days at Stanford High School and will continue to be an inspiration to us all our lives. With deepest love and sincerity we dedicate our Memo to Mrs. Virginia Shaw. Seated: Ben Gaines, Chairman; Standing: left to right-Alvin Gander, Leonard Boone, Arch Walker, Bob Baughman MR. J. C. EDDLEMAN, SUPERINTENDENT I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the graduating class of 1961+. Surely we had more than our share of outstanding students in this class. Most of you accepted nobly the obligation to make yourself inwardly fine. It is hoped that as the years roll by, the experience and knowledge received at Stanford High School will enable you to achieve greatness. Remember, you can go anywhere from here. My best wishes for a successful and prosperous life go with you. Today is the tomorrow of yesterday. It finds each of you with a measure of achievement which is the result of years of endeavor. Other tomorrows will bring happiness and sucess as you make the most of day to day opportunities. As the superintendent of your school, I extend congratulations and best wishes. May each obstacle be overcome with courage, and each success accepted with humility. MR. LEE TISHAS KILLS, PRINCIPAL FACULTY MR. DAMROM B.S.,M.S. University of Kentucky MRS. HILL B.S. University of Texas Here you see our faculty. A greater group will never be. They're patient, kind, and helpful too. (Should we've said that before school was through?) When tempted to slacken on efforts, this question should be asked to oneself, What or whom am I destroying? MRS. GLENN TURNER Secretary to Superintendent MRS. Esles SHORTHAND TYPING We are now rocketing into the Space Age. We will need various types of knowledge to meet our coming problems of life. Whether you are in the business world or not, you will find great use for typing skills. The students have been learning to type and proofread accurately. Shorthand is a very helpful short cut in writing speed. It isn't always useful to the ordinary run of life people but for the modern secretary it is a must. North, south, east, west. Life in each direction is different. In French class the students learn the way of life to the east of us. Good English is essential to our lives in the future. In English class we learn not to dangle participles or to split infinitives. We also find out that Shakespeare isn't half bad at all. FRENCH CHEMISTRY GENERAL SCIENCE In our modern age, science is needed. The students are first introduced to the subject in General Science, which touches on many phases of this field. In Chemistry class, the mysteries of science are explored further. The elements are studied, laboratory experiments are performed, and charts are memorized. It is a subject that takes much time but is quite interesting. Among other things, the study of Geometry is one which encourages you to think. You must learn the construction of squares, perpendiculars, and triangles. Geometry is useful in many fields such as art, architecture, and engineering. Today's students, who may be tomorrow's astronauts must have sound minds and bodies. It is said that American youth are not physically fit. But they are becoming educated in Physical Education and Health ClaS9eS PHYSICAL EDUCATION MATH 7 PLANE GEOMETRY HOME ECONOMICS AGRICULTURE A more detailed study of life is made in World History. This includes the study of all nations, their history past and present. In Home Economics the girls have learned the basic foods, how to cook this food, how to sew, and how to make a home out of a house. This will undoubtedly be put to good use in their futures. The Agriculture boys learn the art of carpentry and also of welding. They study the types of soil and the way to test it. During the year they also learn how to judge cattle and hogs. The Band is a very busy organization. Some of their school activities include half time shows at football games and the pep band at basketball games. Two concerts are given each year at Christmas and in the spring. They march in numerous parades including the gubernatorial inauguration, the Mountain Laurel Festival, the Kentucky Derby and Stanford's own Dairy Parade. Band members spend two weeks at Band Camp during the summer. F. F. A.
