SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In early September of 194S when everything around was dieing 16 of us bravely marched into Mrs. Rochester's room to start our blossoming education. We were Gary Brummett, Jennie Jo Rice, Emery Wilson, Nancy Caudill, Glenn Hester, Carolvn Dawson, Robert Young, Betty Ann Wilder, Steven Bernsweig, Glenna Brown, Sonny Burton, Barbara Adams, and Ronald Lawrence. How thrilled we were when we became second graders I Mrs. Montgomery was our teacher. We gained Glenn Turner from Indiana. Miss Leedy was our third grade teacher. We learned manv new things such as who discovered America and how to multiplv and add fractions. Miss Denham bravely taught us when we were fourth graders. We found that we could never chew gum when Miss Denham was around. She was always able to detect it. We really felt grown up when we moved upstairs to the fifth grade room. Mrs. Burgin was our teacher that year. Sharon Van Hook came to us from the fourth grade. Joyce VonLinger and Helen Thomson moved to our community when we were sixth graders and immediately became members of our class. Miss Dudderar taught us that vear. We found that when we reached the seventh grade, even though we changed classes, we weren't as grown up as we had thought we would be. Tommy Moser stayed to be with us. Mrs. Cash was our homeroom teacher. The following year we moved next door into the eighth grade room to be with Mrs. Embry, our homeroom teacher. We found that our freshman year was difficult as well as exciting. Many new things had faced us as it was our first year in high school. We were joined by Randall Stull, Crab Orchard; Lean Rhodus, Oleta Conley, and Nell Poynter, Hubble; and Donna Mefford, Indiana. Our thoughts became a little more serious in our 10th year. We had begun to realize the value of a good education. Some of us had already selected a college. Jimmy Brown joined us from Memorial. Mr. Elliott was our homeroom teacher. Brenda Staton and Shirley Snowden joined us in the 11th grade. Jerry Pyle came to us from Indiana and immediately became interested in sports and class activities. Mr. Paul Taylor was our homeroom sponsor. Our senior year has proven to be one of responsibilities, heartaches, and happiness. The death of a classmate has strengthened the ties of fellowship and understanding. Our sponsor, Mrs. Paul Owens, has given us immeasurable heln in all that we have undertaken. We gained Tommy Owens and Patsi Rankin at the beginning of the year. This has been our history. We are now ready for our future.
