■9? ft Class History In the year of 1943, 12 of the present 27 Seniors of the class of 1955 marched bravely up to Mrs. Rochester’s first grade room, not realizing what was before them. They were: Henry Baughman, Johanna Camenisch, Mary Lou Frisbie, Georgia Ann Gooch. Tommy Grimes, Jane Eleanor Harris, Doris Ann Hooker, Elven Lasure, Mary Lee Long, George Saufley, Irene Snow, and Hershel Yantis. In the second grade we gained three new members: Marquita Elkins from Saufley, Coleen Lawrence from Hubble, and Doris Jean McQueary from Indianapolis, Indiana. In the third grade Mrs. Settle was our teacher but we didn’t have any new pupils. In the fourth grade Miss Denham was our teacher. We gained one new member, Jimmy Baughman, who skipped the third grade to be with us. In the fifth grade we gained two new members: Bonnie Carol Plummer from Paint Lick and Kenneth Owens from McKinney. In the sixth grade we didn’t have any new members. Miss Dudderar was then our teacher. In the seventh grade we had two new members: Jimmy Baxter from Detroit and Jim Boone Gooch from Crab Orchard. Miss Davis was our leader. In the eighth grade we were joined by three new members: Jerry Braun from Covington, Nancy Murphy from Crab Orchard, and Ronnie Patterson from Kings Mountain. Mrs. Embry was our home room teacher. In the ninth grade we had three new members: Teddy Gilbert from Crab Orchard, Earl Baugh from Hubble, and Velma Napier from Mason’s Gap. Mrs. Hillman was our home room teacher. In the tenth grade we had a new teacher, Mr. Elliott. We didn’t have any new members. In the eleventh grade we didn’t have any new members. We started out with Mr. Van-over as our home room teacher buthedidn’t stay with us very long. We then had Mr. Damron for a teacher. During our Junior year we gave a class play entitled “Everybody’s Crazy Now’’. In the twelfth grade, Kathlene Mick came all the way from Buckhannon, West Virginia to be with us. At the beginning of the year we elected our class officers as follow: President, Elven Lasure; Vice President, Jerry Braun; Secretary. Doris Ann Hooker; and Treasurer, Irene Snow. We enjoyed this last year of our high school life very much with Mrs. Owens as our sponsor. Well, that’s about all of our history, but we have a great future to look forward to. We wish to take the opportunity to thank all of our teachers, who have helped us through these twelve long years, and for all they have done to help us reach our goaL Written by Marquita Elkins and Doris J ean Me Queary
