HISTORY In September, 1940, fourteen of the present 24 Seniors started the long hard journey towards education. They were Susan Beazley, Georgia Lee Cox. Joan Hurst, Gloria Robinson, Birdie Dell Southard, Jim Woods Adams, Norman Anderson, Harry Hill Baughman, Tommy Hester, Jack Hester Harold Long, Bob Noe, Marvin Reed and George 0. Spoonamore. In the second grade Carroll Brent joined our group, but Gloria Robinson left us to go to Lancaster and Jack Hester went to Crab Orchard. In the third grade Nellie Rogers, our star female athlete, j oined us. Our number wasn’t increased until the sixth grade, when Wanda Colyer, Jean Taylor and Billy Hastie joined our group. Billy Hastie left us the latter part of the sixth grade, but found there was none like us anywhere else and came back. We also gained Lucy Jones in the seventh grade and lost Susan Beazley and Wanda Colyer. In the eighth grade Jack Hester and Susan Beazley came back to graduate with us, and Gloria Robinson returned for our Freshman year. In our sophomre year we were joined by Marlene Patterson from Kings Mountain. Betty Tillett and Peggy Jo Brown came to be with us the last two years of our journey, and Margie Farmer and Wanda Colyer rejoined us for the last and most important year of our high school career.

CLASS PROPHECY It is now 195 8 and when I think of my former classmates, some really amazing things have happened. Margie Farmer, better known as Henry Clay Farmer, is now head of the biggest law firm in New York. If you want to enlarge your muscles go to see Dr. Nellie Rogers. She has a practice in Stanford, Kentucky. We see that Jean Taylor is a technician ad the Stanford Hospital these days. Weedie Cox is now Mrs. Jesse Hocker, Jr. and is raising a state champion basketball team. Jack Hester has been elected President of the United States and has settled down in Key West, Florida. We now see Hatch Baughman sitting back at his desk at Baughman Milling Co. trying to figure out how to get a three pound sack of flour into a five pound sack and to sell it for the price of a ten pound sack. Peggy Jo Brown is still in Stanford waiting to become Mrs. Roy Berry. Bob Noe and Jim Woods Adams have just graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Agriculture. Jim is married to Tina and has settled down in dear old Lincoln county to raise kids. Bob is just raising ‘farm animals Joan Hurst and Gloria Robinson are married to two fine Government employees. You guessed it, the Army and the Navy. They get all the luck. Marvin Reed is now playing pro-basketba11 with the Indianapolis Olympians. We see that Marlene Patterson is a secretary in Indianapolis Indiana, staying close to Marvin. Tommy Hester is now manager of the New Lincoln Theatre. He is finally bringing some good shows to Stanford. The kind he likes with lots of girls in them. Wanda Colyer is now operating the Taylor grocery store, located on Lancaster Road. Birdie Dell Southard and Norman Anderson are now Mr. fc Mrs. and are living in Stanford. Mrs. Anderson is still working at Sam Robinson's and Doug is still loafing at Begley's. If you want food or any kind of merchandise cheap, go see the owner of Hastie Wholesale Company. Billy Roy Hastie. Susan Beazley is now Mrs. Orville McGuffey and has settled down in San Diegok California, to raise some 'little sailors'. Carroll Brent and Harold Long are now managers of rival stores. Brent, the A. 8c P. , and Harold, Kroger. Betty Tillett is now manager of the Cowden Plant in Stanford. George 0. Spoonamore is now owner of one of the largest Blue Grass Farms in Fayette County and has found time to become the head teacher in the Ag. Department at U. of Ky.
