CLASS HI TO Y ear l ,N 5 v In September of 1938 seven of the present thlrty two senlors crossed the threshold of Stanford Publlc School to begln thelr educatlon They were Bobby Beck, Mary Carol Boone, Sonny Hooker Berta Hester, Gladys Hurst, Allce Yantls, and Patsy Spoonamore No new students were annexed 1n the second grade but 1n the thlrd grade we were JOlHSd by John Mack Rankln from Hubble, who ln h1s later years ln h1gh school became a second NYoYo H In the fourth grade ve saw a flash of red before our eyes and lt turned out to be Martha Jane Montgomery Dorothy Jones and Anna Lou Gander also golned us 1n the fourth grade In the flfth grade Coleman Young, a natural born athlete golned our class When NS were 1U the slxth grade a llttle bashful g1rl by the name of Peggy North cutt walked 1n and sald that he would llke to flnnsh school at Starford wlth us Cecll Adams also came to us 1U the slxth grade Then we entered JUDlOT hlgh school where we changed classes and had h1gh school teachers In the seventh grade we had tvo addl tlons to our group Kathleen Rogers from Crab Orchard and Bllly Turpln, who wanted to f1n1sh school w1th us In the elghth grale Dorls Jeaver from Hubble and Claudus Tlllet, a geometry Whla jolned us Patsy Spoonamore who lelt us 1n the seventh grade now retlrned 1n the elghth Then we became freshmen but not too green In thls year our class was lncreased Nlth seven new stu dents They were Chr1st1ne Puchanan and Gladys Varren from Hubble, Paullne Iatts and HW11dH B111 fllder from Saufley, Bobby Mercer from Crab Orchard, and two br1ll1ant underclassmen who sklpped the elghth grade to be wlth us, Phyllls Davls and Marcla Farmer Anna Lou Gander, who left us ln the elvhth cou1ln't stay away and came back 1n the nlnth In oar sophomore year our class was lncreased wlth two new members They were Bully naswell, The Bra1n', from Klngs Mountaln and Greg Anderson Ihen we were juH1O'S four new students entered our class They were Pobby Cain from McK1nney, Melvln Thompson, the class's Bob Hope be cause he gets all the laughs also from McK1nney, Patsy Balley from Hlvhland and Barbara Beattle from Lou1sv1lle Now we are senlors and our class has been enllghtened by the comlng of HM1ghty Mouseu Marjorle Burton from Hlghland Ve regret that Mary Ruth Walker could not f1n1sh school mlth us IO ,. , G ' n , , 5 4 f Q u S Qu.
