They were Barbara, Julia Ann, Peggy Foster, Margaret Ellen, Annabelle, Helen Daviss, Doris Long, Betty Turpin, and Zack Saufley. In the second grade we were joined by a red-headed, freckl-faced little girl, who turned out to be Thelma Las-ure. In the third grade a little brown eyed lassie by the name of Mildred Rambo joined us. No new pupils were annexed in the fourth grade but in the fifth, the West was brought closer by Jo Leta. The sixth grade brought us a small bomb from Crab Orchard, Jimmy Car-son. We obtanied a southern belle from Alabama, Mary Fred Leedy, in the seventh grade- The eighth grade brought us a tall dark haired led from Louisville, who answers to the name of Dallas Roberts, and also, a shy, retiring girl from Hubble, Helen Morris. Our number was increased by six as we started the last lap of our journey. They were Billy Timberlake, Harold Kelley, Clarence Rankin, Harry Pence, from Hubble; Lloyd Chadwell from Saufley and Amy VonLinger from Hus-tonville. Our sophomore year was enriched by the arrival of Nick B., “Casanova” from Fern Creek. In the eleventh grade we were joined by a basketball star, Billy Hansford, from Liberty, and also Mary Ann Clark from Versailles. Our last year was enlightened by the coming of Evelyn Bailey from Indiana and Bernice French from Crab Orchard. Joan Von Gruenigen, who had been sick a year, joined us and Peggy Adams joined us from Cardome. MW
