And even though they’ve caused us grief. We’ll hate to see them go. With Greg Gabriel no longer here, Joe Beith will get some rest. And when Karla Stamate's gone. We’ll have just one less pest. Ted Waters was our President, Phil Spencer was our vice. In addition to being an artist, Deanna Coombes was nice. Cheryl gave us humor, Kellie gave us wit. And sometimes Ole Jim Pearce Would take our place to sit. Underclassmen shook with fear, When Mike Murphy roamed the hall. Jerry Simmons was our hero. When playing basketball. Joan was always silent, Judy had great grace. Brad and Dave were always here. To laugh in danger’s face. Connie Bridge was helpful, Rosalie was too. Tracy helped the FFA, Like most good farmers do. Dan Lemmon was always pleasant, Marla’s mind wras great. Ann and Harriet are in there too. Although they came here late. Last but not least comes Jeanette, As friendly as can be. So let’s all give one last cheer, for the class of ”73. ” Not pictured: Harriet Dickson Senior Achievements ROSALIE ALBRECHT Student Body- 1,2,3,4 GAA- 1,2,3,4 Girls' League- 4 Pep Club- 1,2,3 Student Council- 4 Class Secretary- 2 Girl s' Basketball Team- 4 Volleyball Team- 1,2,3 Tennis Team- 3,4 Annual Staff- 4 CHERYL BARTLEY Student Body- 1,2,3,4 Pep Club- 1,2,3 Pep Club point keeper- 2 GAA- 1,2,3,4 GAA President- 3 Girls' League- 4 Girls' League Council- 4 Miss Flame- 3 Class Secretary- 1,3 JV Cheerleader- 2,3 Head JV Cheerleader- 2,3 Varsity Football and Basketball Cheerleader- 4 Bengal Staff- 4 Annual Staff- 1,3,4 Annual Co-editor- 3 Annual Editor- 4 Drill Team- 1 Volleyball- 1,2,3 Tennis- 1,2,3,4 Class Prophet- 4 CONNIE BRIDGE Student Body- 1,2,3,4 Bengal Staff- 4 Girls' League- 4 Pep Club- 3 GAA- 1,2,3,4 GAA President- 4 GAA point keeper- 3 Girls' Basketball Team- 4 Volleyball- 2,3 Tennis- 3,4 Annual Staff- 4 DEANNA COOMBES Student Body- 1,2,3,4 Pep Club- 1,2 Girls' League- 4 Chorus- 2,3,4 Mystic Blossoms- 2 Blue and Gold Cantarians- 3 Pep Band- 4 Volleyball- 4 Annual- 4 Music in May- 4 JL'DY COREY Student Body- 1,2,3,4 Volleyball- 1,2,3,4 Tennis- 1,2,3,4 Prom Princess- 4 Bengal Staff- 4 GAA- 1,2,3,4 GAA Secretary- 3 Girls' League- 4 Girls' League Treasurer- 4 Homecoming Princess- 1 Homecoming Queen- 4 Annual Staff- 3,4 Varsity Cheerleader- 2,3,4 Head Football Cheerleader- 4 Pep Club- 1,2,3 Class Treasurer- 1,2,3 Carnival Queen- 3 DAVID DAVIS Student Body- 1,2,3,4 FFA- 1,2,3,4 Student Council- 2,3 Student Body V. The 1972-1972 journalism class concentrated on a publication that would have real interest appeal to the students at SHS. Twenty copies of the Bengal were published on schedule. Students and teachers looked forward to each successive publication with more than the usual anticipation. Fourteen students made up the staff. Most of them learned to type stencils, cut ads, and run the copy machine, in addition to mastering the basic journalistic skills. From the beginning to the end, the Music Dept, has experienced an exciting year. During football season, the band and drill team featured a halftime show honoring our Homecoming Queen and her court. Later in November we presented a Fall Concert starring both instrumental and vocal. This was followed shortly by the Christmas Season, with a tree decorating party and our home-style Yule Tide Concert. April 13, a Friday no less, our choir braved the unlucky number to participate In the small schools Choir Festival where, in individual choir, we rated third. April 23, on the road early, our band combined with Echo's band to give a joint concert the same evening. May 17-19 took three of our students down to MUSIC IN MAY, a festival that selected talented high school students, numbering close to 1000, working together under top directors to present a true musical experience for all. Those chosen to represent our school were Crls Snyder, from band, and Deanna Coombes and Joan Waters, both from choir. Our year ended with the choir singing for baccalaureate and our band playing at graduation. To some it seemed as though it could never come soon enough. To others, a strange emptiness. The four years which represent a gap in the continuity of life will be everpresent; not so much the Tigers are Number 1, all-for-SHS feeling (though thats part of it), as a remembrance of ideas and high ideals, contact with people, a true education. 49 Marla Mills Valedictory Kellie Porter Salutatory Ted Waters Salutatory Karla Stamate Class History Cheryl Bartley Class Prophecy Judy Corey Prayer Hermiston Trio CLASS MOTTO CLASS COLORS ,rYou Are Today Where Your Thoughts Yellow and Green Have Brought You; You Will Be Tomorrow Where Your Thoughts Take You. The plane takes off at 8:30. The Class of ”73” met at Hermiston airport at 8:30 on May 23rd. There they flew to the Tri-Cities. The seniors then drove to Columbia Park for a day of golf, swimming in the Lagoon, and just plain fun. The class had lunch at a drive-in in Pasco and then returned to Columbia Park for the remainder of the day. Pizza at Shakeys highlighted the end of the day. At 7:00 a bus from the Stanfield High School picked the senior class up and took them home. A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR ALL. 51 Earth Day EVERY LITTER BIT HELPS! The students of SHS did their part for Ecology this year by holding an Earth Day. Students were divided into their classes, each having a section of Stanfield to pick up litter from. Many adults appreciate the students' hard work and are glad to see a cleaner city. Home Ec’s Annual Mothers’ Tea Deanna plays That Mrs. Smith! and sings. Theme And the winner Is!
