STANFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Stanfield, Oregon's Archway to A Better Education' PRESENTS. . . Q Iyer fbeofcafzbn We wish to dedicate this 1959 Tiger to the men who settled the town of Stanfield. Because they had the vision to see the town as it could be and the courage and ambition to make their vision a reality, they were the pioneers that planned and made Stanfield. May we have the ability and ini- tiative to continue the work of our predecessors, for in our age we face many of the same problems. ' In the planning of a successful settlement, one must include plans, buildings and other structures according to their plans: and then there must be schools to educate the child- ren of the settlers. This was the first building in Stanfield that was built for the purpose of a schoolhouse. This building was later moved into town and is now the Presbyterian Church. None of the children in this picture have been identified. This picture is closely related to the high school juniors, they have completed two big steps in life and are preparing for the next year just as the settlers planned ahead when they built this schoolhouse. fl ' 1 at, 'A 1 .- J! This is to show where the town was meant to be, but didn't ever grow to this area. The Present town of Stanfield no longer exactly fits the plat, but Seymour Street as it is on the plat is now the street that connects the bridge to Coe Avenue. As the town grew it expanded to the Southwestern part and far beyond. This Plat of Foster is the first attempt to plan a settlement for this community as the Freshmen are also symbolic of students making their first attempt to further their education, as the first big step. 4- 2 X . 1 ,A , 1, X K v. qw , ? This was not all com- pleted last year, but was done so at the beginning of this year. The name of our new club was to be Order of the 'S', colors are blue and gold, sweaters are blue with gold numerals and are to be worn only by the boys. Our club has been very active this year as they took a trip to Corvallis to a college football game between Oregon State and California, helped the Girls' League collect old clothes for the United Nations clothing drive, and organized a letterman's day, which was to be on Friday of each week when the boys must wear their sweaters to school. Our young club hopes to improve as each year comes. sgnpafgf J W zyers TOP ROW: Mike Myrick, John Stamate, Jim McLaren, Mike Brown, Buddy Moore, Joey Cunha, Bert Graham.
