1. FOREWORD Another eventful year in our lives has passed, and many times in the dim and distant future the veil which separates us from the past will be brushed aside, and the familiar scenes and faces recorded in memory during the past year will be reviewed. Into this volume of ECHOES have gone our sincerest efforts to paint a graphic picture of the incidents of yesterday, the scenes of today, and the prophecies of tomorrow, and to reflect the true spirit of Stanfield High School. If, when you peruse these pages in the tomorrow of life, the memories here mirrored serve to rekindle the spirit of our high school days, awaken remembrances of our intermingled joys and sorrows, make glad your heart, lighten your burdens, inspire your life, then the builders of this volume will feel their efforts have not been in vain. TUCKER BOBBY CARL SMITH the History of CI ass o The history of this class is not so different from that of many other classes which have graduated from Stanfield High. Our school history really started when we entered the first grade. We were a jolly bunch of boys and girls who went through many trials and tribulations as we climbed the ladder of learning, until finally we reached high school. We were an awe -stricken group indeed when on that July morning we first enrolled in the ninth grade. Freshmen we were called, and we felt it every inch ! To be out of grammar school exhilarated us though, and we soon learned our way about. At last we had reached high school ! What visions of privilege and power it held ! We were a group of enthusiastic, eager, and ambitious students with never a doubt but that life would run smoothly for us. Before we realized it, final examinations were given, and we received our passports in the form of report cards for the Sophomore Class. Quite a few members of the class did not return that year. Some moved away, a few got married, and others were lured away by outside interests. We returned to school in July as upper -classmen — Juniors. A deeper sense of respon- sibility seized us as we realized that we were fast heading toward that land of Seniority. This year found us here again together. We immediately began to feel the responsibility of being the Senior Class. We were on the point of going out into life. Plans must be made for a future. In our Senior year, twenty -one members were enrolled. We had gained a member who came from another school. Our class was called on to furnish the leaders for all the major organi- zations. With the coming of spring, many events were ushered in. The second volume of ECHOES was published by the Senior Class. Basketball really rose to great heights in our school this year as our girls won the County Championship! Four Seniors were members of the team. How proud we were ! We have done most of the things you would expect a Senior Class to do. We have committed the mistakes of Freshmen, the follies of Sophomores, the frivolities of the Juniors, and the conceits of Seniors. The days passed all too rapidly, and we began to realize more than ever that our high school days were drawing to a close. The time came for making commencement plans. My duties as Class Historian are over. As all good things must come to an end, so our class must separate, but each member will carry with him those traits, accomplishments, and influences that Stanfield High School has given him. May each of us follow the ideals and standards that our Alma Mater has set for us. We ' ve loafed and played and had more fun Than any other class has ever done. We like to have some fun, mixed in with our work But our duty we do never shirk. Eleven lovely girls and ten handsome boys Have brought to our class so very many joys. Handsome John Henry is our president, That he ' s witty and spoiled is quite evident. Willie Margaret, one of the top students of our class, Is an intelligent, dependable and lovely lass. Quentin is truly the most serious of our group, To do anything wrong he would never stoop. Bobby with his sincerity and dependable ways, Has really helped to brighten all our days. Good-natured Jeanette is very sweet. And to the class she ' s really a treat. Jacqulene, the most popular of our class. Is a fair and charming lass. Then there ' s that cheerful and witty Eugene, A friendlier boy you ' ve never seen. Lovely Betty Jane, with her friendly smile. Does all she can to make school worth while. Athletic Joe Hood played on the team, In vocalizing he ' s also on the beam. And Lois, who is the prettiest of all. Is one of the best in basketball, Frank, who is our most handsome boy, By his witty remarks has brought much joy. Gaynelle has music on her mind, In her work she ' s never behind. And Marilyn v ho can act and sing. Much enjoyment to our class did bring. And Betty who the title of Mrs. did win, Has a gift of gab and friendly grin. Harold is handsome and full of fun. And never fails to get his work done. Then Sherwin, who is tall as can be. Seems so very jolly and carefree. Ruth, with her giggles and her laughing eyes. Is a winsome girl, we realize. Goal-shooting Betty is truly a blonde, Of whom our class is very fond. Gerald, who is a Scout of Eagle rank. Is jolly, happy-go-lucky, and frank. And attractive Carol is a redhead, too, Who earnestly tries her work to do. Boyd, in his quiet and unassuming way, Has done much to make us cheerful and gay. Mrs. Henkel, our sponsor, is really a dear All our work she has made so clear. Our stay here has been so bright and shining; For each cloud there ' s been a silver lining- We ' U never forget our classmates and each friend, That through our school work we did win.
