Central ' s Voice of America contest this year was sponsored by the V.F.W, The winners of the contest are as follows, TOP ROW left to right: T. McTaggart seventh place, D. Knight fifth place, Mrs. Carlstrom, advisor, D. South- worth first place, and S. MacDonald third place. BOTTOM ROW: L. Cousins second place, R. Buttrick sixth place, and D. Arm¬ strong fourth place. Dale Southworth (below) is having a practice session. After winning first place in the district contest, he went on to win third place in the re¬ gional. An Extraordinary With much work and effort the Debate Team had a very successful year. They finished third in the State in the Class C and D area. They also at¬ tended State finals at Central Michigan University. They were defeated at the finish by the State Champions, Detroit County Day. Class C’s No. 1 Band Under the direction of Mr. David Kjellberg and with the hard work put in by the students, the Senior High Band obtained a well earned I rating, and was able to go to the state festival. The picture on the left is a rest period the day the band went to Battle Creek for the state festival. 14
