They are: Richard Perlberg, salutatorian, English, mathematics; Cheryl Fisk, honor student, commercial; Carol Fisk, girl ' s citizenship, yearbook; Wendy Pataky, honor student, Betty Crocker; Robert Groszek, athlete of the year, all conference; Steve Bishop, social science, all conference; Walt Stan¬ ley, journalism, attendance; Beverly Butch, science; Kathy Templin, band; Shirley Kowalczyk, art; James Scheid, scholastic athlete; Ken Daniels, agriculture; Bill Donnelly, forensics; Robert Haas, indus¬ trial arts; David Brueckner, boy citizenship; Ron Mutch, valedictorian; Dale South- worth, speech; and Tom Kucera, debate. On the top are the four students who achieved a very high scholastic average through their four years of high school. Three students have been chosen this year to attend Junior Engineers ' and Scientists ' Summer Institutes. This organization program is hav¬ ing two week sessions this summer in the fields of science, math, and engineering. Above are pictured: Mrs. Reid, sponsor; Merritt Walker, who is attending the Florida Institute of Technology and Cape Ken¬ nedy in Melborne, Florida; Chriss Ralph, who is attending Willznette University in Salem, Oregon; and Greg Miscisin, who is attending Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont, Texas, and the Houston Space Flight Center. First Central Students To Attend Summer Workshops The above two students. Miss Gloria Kotz and Miss Kathy Carruthers, have been chosen to be the co-editors for the 1969 Centralian Yearbook and will attend Northwood Institute in Midland for a week session on improving year¬ books. This is the sixth annual publications workshop that Northwood Institute has presented in an effort to improve yearbooks and familiarize the represen¬ tatives of various schools in how to produce a good yearbook and to give new ideas that can be used in their books.

Central ' s Voice of America contest this year was sponsored by the V.F.W, The winners of the contest are as follows, TOP ROW left to right: T. McTaggart seventh place, D. Knight fifth place, Mrs. Carlstrom, advisor, D. South- worth first place, and S. MacDonald third place. BOTTOM ROW: L. Cousins second place, R. Buttrick sixth place, and D. Arm¬ strong fourth place. Dale Southworth (below) is having a practice session. After winning first place in the district contest, he went on to win third place in the re¬ gional. An Extraordinary With much work and effort the Debate Team had a very successful year. They finished third in the State in the Class C and D area. They also at¬ tended State finals at Central Michigan University. They were defeated at the finish by the State Champions, Detroit County Day.
