hministratinn TO THE GRADUATES OF 1981: There is a statement over the outer doors of the auditorium of your alma mater - Stamford High School: The youth of a nation are the trustees of prosperity. As graduates of Stamford High School you have not only the task but the obligation to continue to seize every opportunity to develop our potential to the fullest while you are in the spring of your life. Do not wait as Albert Camus did to find your invincible summer within yourself in the midst ofwinter. Your invincible summer is your integrity and courage nurtured by faith in yourselves to master your own destiny. Remember, our posterity depends on your creative and prophetic responses to the demands of the future. Dr. Thomas Reardon - Acting Superintendent Congratulations, Stamford High School Graduates! This is your day. You have worked and waited for graduation. Sometimes you have been frustrated and angry, and, at other times, you have felt enthusiastic and satisfied. These experiences are much like the experi- ences you will encounter in the world you are entering, and success in higher education and the work world requires the same characteristics you found necessary in achieving success at Stamford High School. Setting goals, both short term and long range, working towards these goals and knowing when to move on and reset goals is invaluable in living. Listening and hearing what people are saying puts you in the driver's seat. Knowing what others know and how they feel about what they know helps you deal with difficult situations. One last word, when in doubt, communicate. Com- munication is your single most powerful tool. Use it! Learn to use communication, both written and oral, to your advantage. Congratulations and the best of luck to each of you. Thomas F. Reardon, Ed.D. Board of Education. First row, Salvatore Signore, Sarah L. Silveira, Rodney Varney, Otto Calder. Second row: Dr. Anne S. Peskin, Adele B. Gordon, Gerald Pia, Anne McDonald, Ellen Camhi. , 1 9
