GUUDBYE T0 Miss Florence Paine retires this year after teaching in the Science Department of Stamford High School for the last thirty years. An intelligent and inspiring individual, both in the class- room and in private life, Miss Paine has voiced faith in the youth of today. If you recognize the good within a student and offer him encouragement, his chances of potential development are greatly increased. For making this philosophy a part of her career, we thank Miss Paine and wish her future happiness. Miss Julia Bibiana Stark, one of Stamford High's best known teachers, retires this June. Miss Stark has been a Latin teacher in the Stamford school system since 1920. ln her forty years of in- struction she has vitalized Latin for hundreds of students. She has been the sponsor of the Junior Classical League where she has striven to enrich the study of the ancient language. We, the Class of 1960, wish Miss Stark much happiness as we say fare- well to a warmhearted individual and dedicated teacher. UUR BEST WISHES T0 Mr. Norton Rhoades, teacher and Administrative Assistant, leaves this year to become principal of Stamford's new high school. Through his eighteen years at Stamford High, he has seen the school grow in size and complexity. Mr. Rhoades has given daily of his abilities to assimilate the growth and to reduce the complexities of this institution. With his teaching and admini- strative background, Mr, Rhoades competently enters his new position with the goodwishes of his friends and students. Mr. Mayo Sorgman, teacher at Stamford High School since 1936, Head of the Arts Department since 1946, now advances to the post of Art Director for all of Stamford's public schools. A graduate of the Massachusetts School of Art, Mr. Sorgman has honored the school with his ability both as an instructor and as an artist whose work has gained national acclaim. To his new position, Mr. Sorgman takes twenty-four years of experience and our best wishes for his success. F5 it f s. 1 'Q
