A MESSAGE FRUM UUR ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT Up to the present time one of the most interesting and, to me, constructive contributions the satellites have made to man is the chance which has been given us to see our earth from a different point ot view. The satellite has en- abled us to know our sphere a little better and in a different way because of the far out look it can take of things we have known intimately and in detail for a long time. This is I feel a challenge to each one who is about to be graduated from Stamford High School that he, too, be for a little while, a thoughtful scientist sending out his own satellite in order to get a better or longer view of himself. The time has come to send up your own satellite to help you ascertain what your real life goals are and with what equipment you are prepared to achieve them. Stand by for operation Satellite '60! Helen Tobin AND PRINCIPAL The customary message ofthe Principal to the Gradu- ating Class is written this year with mixed feelings. The Class of T960 and I have at least one thing in common, we are completing our work at Stamford High School together. In view of my decision to retire after thirty-five years as teacher and administrator in this school my message is in a sense terminal. While my official connection with S.H.S. will end at the close of this school year, my, emotional and devotional connection with the School will continue un- broken. The Class of T960 has been outstanding. In scholar- ship, sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship this class is top rank. Your possibilities for great achievement in the years that lie ahead are unbounded. My best wishes for happiness and success go with each oneof you. Alton Rhoods 9 .-lm ,Q INK is

47 .J l X . FA REWELL MRS. BUHN Mrs. Louisa H. Bohn, Dean of Girls, retires this year from Stamford High School with a record of extraordinary achievement. She has symbolized all that is at once iust yet merciful, scrupulous yet kind. Her office has been in the literal and figurative sense, the heart of the school. From here emanated the vitality and love which kept this great organism from becoming iust so many cement stones and pieces of wood. With incredible insight and perception she has handled the conflicting prob- lems of youth, smoothing out the tangled emotions and establishing order from confusion and disappointment. Her guidance at meetings and activities was con- stant assurance of absolute fairness and genuine interest. Mrs. Bohn has made her presence so integral a part of Stamford High, that it is difficult to think of the school without her. Reviewing the past, she says in her own words, Every minute has been pure joy, Contemplating the future, we say in the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee, Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears. vi ga N
