State and Nutmeg Boys State in June? We thought long and carefully and finally selected Pat Moore Pat Mahoney Mark Vaughn Dave Kennedy Bob Eusenstadt and Don Gautrau The melody ruppled on and buult up to a tremulous Crescendo the Junuor Prom There was Moonlught on the Seune and the dreamy musuc of Ralph Stewarts band to transport us to the magucal world of gay Parus At ll OO P M Pat Moore and Mark Vaughn queen and kung led the grand march across the transplanted banks of the Seune After the prom we danced the nught away at the Hubbard Heughts Golf Club and returned home un the wee hours of the mornung tured but happy June the end of our Junuor Year tume to elect Senuor offucers We lustened very carefully to each candudate and thoughtfully voted for the one of our chouce The votes were counted and we had chosen Bob Mayette Bob Eusenstadt Louuse Ferrara and Helen Rotas to lead us un the comung year September 3rd found us rusung at 6 O0 AM to be on tume for the early sessuon but ut was wonderful to be through at I2 the poor Sophomores who went from noon tul dark Our football team captauned by Jurn Pat Wunn had an outstandungly successful year We yelled ourselves hoarse on Thanksguvung Day as we beat Faurfueld Prep to capture the State Champuonshup The Suren capably eduted by Carol Malanosku kept us well unformed on school news Pat Close and Marcua Buchman chosen edutors of Yearbook Theme wull be a musucal one Opus 59 Barbara Gordon Carolyn O Hara and Margaret Puckens semufunalusts for Merut Scholarshups Pat Mahoney selected as DAR Gurl On Thursday nughts we could tune un to the famuluar vouces on WSTC of Don Gautrau Pat Moore and Bob Eusenstadt as they untervuewed unterestung people and untroduced the latest duscs On November 21 1958 the tense drama The Nught of January 16th starrung Pat Moore Muke Weur and Don Gautrau was presented to a capacuty auduence Don Gautrau s portrayal of the merculess prosecutung attorney made us glad we werent on trual although we could always rely on Muke Weur as our defense An auduble sugh of reluef escaped from the auduence as the foreman of the lury stood and solemnly announced the verduct NOT GUILTY A vote of thanks was due to Mr Scanlon and Mr Whutung for durectung and settung up the stage for thus thrullung play On another stage our enthusuastuc cheerleaders led by Head Cheerleader Pat Mahoney cheered the basketball team on to countless vuctorues Tume and agaun Bully OConnor Bob Eusenstadt Bull Ward Eddue Cunnungham and Dave Roberts brought us to our feet cheerung Thus season a new note under the durectuon of Allen Shanen S H S started uts furst swummung team January brought cold weather howlung wunds and College Boards moans and groans were heard from many Senuors but only tume would tell the results CLUB 59 was a hugh note un the month of January but we then had to settle down to book reports and term papers It was June before we knew ut and yearbooks came out' It wasnt long before they were scrubbled full of memorues of good tumes shared and wushes for good luck un the future We began preparung for our Senuor Prom The gym was transformed unto a mystucal Shangru La We could have danced all nught and we nearly dud It was a nught to remember Graduatuon Day The strauns of Pomp and Curcumstance Presudent Bob Mayette buddung us farewell the long awauted duplomas our hugh school on the hull awautung new students to take our places But our symphony us not funushed We have the rest of our luves to work on ut Thus Lubretto wull be a permanent record of the begunnung of a harmonuous symphony I 1 1 1 I I I 1 I 11 - - 11 - , . . i . . . ., I I ' I 1 1 - . . . 1 1 , . , . . . ,, ,, . .
