One highlight of the year for the fine-arts enthusiasts was the annual Halloween win- dow contest. Pushing a brush for long hours and listen- ing to the remarks of sidewalk art critics were rewarded when we stood back to admire the finished product. We'll always recall that final touch to our entries for the Scholastic contest, the last minute cartoons for the Siren, and those hectic deadlines for the yearbook And it wasn t only the Rembrandts who got a chance to create at SHS Spoonsters cooked up culinary master pieces that tempted the nostrils of hungry students The flying fingers of student seamstresses stitched dolls, dresses, and chair Plans for dream homes and future wardrobes also came from the sub floor The sex that s afraid of a kitchen planned furniture and accessories to go with the food and frills of the females Metal master pieces and wooden wares were among the objects de signed and built by the skillful hands of the industrial arts students Creative? We certainly were' We made everything from lamps to lemonade-and was it fun' Aided by able directors we stirred and sewed puttered and painted hammered and lunched The only thing that could ex ceed the glory of our creations was our pride in them .-r Ari :rw W UE
