B TEAM Playing ex citin g West Texas type football all the way, Coach Larry Wartes' B team had a good season record of five Wins and three losses. Heavily outweighed and outmanned, but not outplayed, by every opponent, the Stamford lads showed promise of becoming a traditionally fine Bulldog A team next year. ln the season opener, the Blue and White dropped a close one to a very fine Bronte team, 6 to O. Facing one of the toughest class A teams in the area, the Bulldogs lost another close one, 12 to O, to Lockett 's A team. Bouncing back like a true Bulldog crew, they way-laid district foe Seymour's B team 26 to 13, Once again, outweighed and outmanned, the never-say-die Stamford Brigade lost to Class 4A semi-finalists, Wichita Falls B team, 26 to 6. Two quick victories followed next, one over the Hamlin B team 12 to O, and a 1 to O forfeit from injury-riddled Woodson. In one of their finest games, the Bulldogs, by sheer desire and determina- tion, trounced class 4A champion Abilene 's B team 13 to 7. Winding up the season with a bang, Coach Wartes' boys once again smashed Seymour 33 to 20. Some of these game B teamers later in the season had a big hand in winning the state crown.
