Pictured above is the coaching staff of the Stamford Bulldogs - one of the finest staffs in the U. S They are, left to right: jr. High Coach, Bill Anderson, Head Coach, Gordon Wood, Assistant Coaches, Larry Wartes and O. M. Isbell. the awesome Bulldogs humbled the Pride of the Plains, the Canyon Eagles, 48- 12 for their second consecutive regional cromm and their 29th consecu- tive win. Gaining momentum, the Stamford brigade lowered the boom on a fine Crane eleven, 39-6 in San Angelo. On a great day for Stamford, mighty Terrell, conqueror of the Bulldogs in 1953, was com- pletely routed by the dynamic defense and irresisti- ble offense of the Blue and White to the pretty tune of 39-7. In a fitting climax to a great year, Stamford fought its hardest battle inAbi1ene against the aerial- minded Brady Bulldogs. It was nip and tuck all the way, with the Stamford boys coming hom behind a seven point deficit and notching their 32nd consecu- tive win and second consecutive State AA Crovxm. Not only did they set a new class AA record in wins, but they also obtained the honor of becoming the first AA team to win the title twice. Playing to- gether like a true team all the way and conducting themselves like Christian gentlemen, the Stamford Bulldogs proved to be worthy of Stamford's praises and confidence. This is the never-to-be-forgotten '56 season of the Stamford Bulldogs. Long will it live in the hearts of many!
