Tahoma Staff Carolynn Skoog A D. E. Roley Business Manager Adviser Jeanyne Smyth Margaret Lamson Editor-in-Chief Associate Editor Chosen as editor-in-chief, assistant editor, and business manager for the 1955 Tahoma were jeanyne Smyth, Margaret Lamson, and Carolynn Skoog, respectively. Potential staff members were discovered through an essay contest which was presented to juniors in their English classes. The planning of the book began during the summer when the staff artists and editor met to choose the theme and arrange the lay-out structure. The appropriately chosen theme, Memories,v was exemplified by using lines from the song, Thanks for the Memoriesf' which has come to be known as the Senior Alma Mater. These lines were placed on the division pages of the sections with which they corresponded. Falling in with the theme was the Talking Page which was sold along with the annual. Recordings of the Music Department best entertainment was recorded on tapes and then sent to California to be reproduced in the form of an unbreakable record. The editing of the Castle Directory, a small booklet containing the names, addresses and phone numbers of Stadium students, was the first project of the year. A subscription drive managed by roll room activity managers made the sale a success. A camera, which was presented to the publications department by the Class of ,54, permitted the staff photographers to take many of their own pictures. In order to print and develop the pictures at a lesser cost, the staff was given access to the dark room. The organization chart which was introduced to the staff last fall informed the members of their respective duties. Some were: EDITOR: jeanyne Smyth was generally in charge of the production of the yearbook and was responsible for teaching and assigning work to staff members. ASSISTANT EDITOR: Margaret Lamson was responsible for duplicate and triplicate dummies for the printer and engraver as well as preparation of pictures for the engraver. BUSINESS MANAGER: Carolynn Skoog planned the yearbook budget in cooperation with the adviser and managed all financial affairs. She also handled correspondence. ORGANIZATIONS EDITOR: Sandra Fingold Worked With the photographers and editor in plan- ning and scheduling all group, candid, and sports pictures. SPORTS CO-EDITORS: Nancy Miller and Ryo Inouye were responsible for complete coverage of all sports events. FINE ARTS EDITOR: Phyllis Gothlin secured and typed all captions of pictures appearing in the book. PHOTOGRAPHERS: Iohn Green and Ron Conly took, developed, and printed pictures at the request of the staff members. However, a private photographer, Ted Asberg, was contracted to take the larger group pictures. Tahoma adviser, Mr. Roley, was always present to give the staff the technical advice which comes only from experience. The staff owes him much for the time and help he so willingly donated.
