FOREWORD From the pens of poets we have an almost universal depredation of time. Wasteful time , devouring time , time's scythe , subtle thief of youth are a few among many labels. Viewing time, however, as the medium in which his- tory unfolds itself, time becomes a treasurehouse of memory. Far better than the minting of a gold- crowned king is the memory of a lovely thing , Sara Teasdale so fittingly wrote. The pages in this volume chronicle the events of busy days, fruitful hours and joyful moments so that the passage of years may not dim our recollection of them. ST.
