S. ll Senior Baptized... Making converts to the Faith begins at home! The good example of fellow CYS members plus the all powerful grace of God brought Salli Johnson, an SXH senior, (CENTER) into the true Church during the past year. Salli is shown at the right reading her profession of faith before Father LeMoine from whom she took her convert instructions. KNEELING beside her is her sponsor in Baptism, Lorene Kolich, 1953-1954 CYS president at St. Xavier's. Mission Crusade Committee At the left are pictured the members of the Mission Crusade Committee as they put the finishing touches on the mission rosary, STANDING are Georgeanne Courville and Joe Schad, chairman; KNEELING: Leo Henry and Kathleen Wolters. The objective of this committee is to pray, work, and sacrifice for the missions and thereby increase the membership of the Mystical Body of Christ. the king Rites Crowning Christ their leader is Joe Schad, Chairman of the Mission Committee. At his left are his attendants Danny Dreiling (LEFT) and Duane Langvardt (RIGHT). The remaining senior boys form the guard of honor in the fore- ground. Billie Dreiling is crownbearer. Honoring the Sacred Heart on the feast of Christ the King by coronation ceremonies is a tribute of love and devotion offered by SXH students who desire to be Christ-like leaders.

These committeemen--(COUNTERCLOCKWISE) Tom Nolan, chairman; Mary Lou Schad, Gladys Seley, and Jerry Gillen--are shown arranging the Advent wreath used in prepar ing CYS-ers spiritually for Christmas. Among the many projects sponsored by these active and enthusiastic leaders were the annual retreat, a Marian Year pilgrimage, participation in National Communion Crusade, and observance of National Catholic Youth Week. Realizing that every teenager is going to influence people --for good or bad--the spiritual committee members have striven wholeheartedly to help CYS-ers to grow spiritually’' in order that they may be Christ-like leaders, who in Monsig- nor Schieder's words, will truly change the world. Retreat Breakfast To the right, St. Xavier's CYS members are seen enjoying food and fun at the break- fast following their annual retreat on Decem- ber 8. Their retreat given by Father James Mahoney, Army Chaplain from Camp Funston proved to be a fruitful source of inspiration tc all students. Pilgrimage Bound for Seven Dolors Church in Manhattan are St. Xavier's CYS members shown to the left. Over sixty CYS-ers made this pilgrimage on December 8 as a closing Marian Year project--a tribute of love and devotion to the Blessed Mother,

Social Committee Social Committee members at the right: Judy Cole, DickWolters, Danny Dreiling, chairman; Jim Wahle, Mimi Wood, and Dorothy Kolich provided wholesome fun and entertainment for CYS members at monthly parties. Highlights of their year’s program of entertainment included an October picnic, the Parent-Student Mixer, a Valentine Formal and a skating party. Valentine Formal At the right students are shown enjoy- ing the annual Valentine formal held in the school library on February 18. A novel feature of the evening was the presentation of a gift to the girl who displayed the most beautiful, modest formal. Shirley Whaley was the prize winner. L. Publicity Committee Keeping the bulletin board 'in trim was the task of Cathy Dague and Mary Eleanor Nolan, shown at the left. The importance of Church feast days as well as school activities was brought to the attention of the student body through the attractive displays designed by these CYS workers.
