. . . we, the class of 1954, dedicate our yearbook, LE SOUVENIR, in this the Marian Year. May the faith which she symbolizes, the hope which she promises, and the love which she fosters for each of us through her Divine Child be the light by which we are guided through the drama of life ever onward to our eternal commencement. May our devotion to her during this, her special year, reap for us her never-ending love and protection.

 The world is a stage. . . yes, an immense and a tremendously impor- tant one on which we play a role in the drama of life under the guidance of our Divine Director, Christ Him- self. For each of us God has chosen a particular role, the one for which we are best fitted according to our apti- tudes and talents. To accept this as- signment and perform it well requires careful preparation and training. We at St. Xavier's are privileged to receive this all-important training- scholastic, spiritual, cultural, and social--through classroom instruc- tions and a well-organized activity program based on principles of Cath- olic education. During our years of training we have learned the dialog, the music, and the actions that will blend into a perfect performance of Christian living. In a few days seventeen of us will step from behind the scenes onto the stage of life to play our parts in the great drama. As a tribute of gratitude to our teachers who have worked tire- lessly to train us and as a book of precious school day memories, we present in the following pages scenes from our rehearsal days at S X H. May LE SOUVENIR of 1954 re- count many happy memories that St. Xavier's cast has spent rehearsing for life's drama, and may it assist us to play our role so perfectly that at the curtain call of eternity we may hear from Our Director those words of praise. . . . Well done, my good and faithful servants.
