lntramurals fill the in-between times lntramurals filled many of their lunch- times. They attempted football in autumn, but cold and rain cut that short; they played baseball and volleyball in the spring. But most of the time was spent at basketball, which sometimes looked like football or baseball. The sport of playing, the sport of watching others play e they engaged in both; both were entertaining. They found in- tramuralsa welcomediversion. 4A and 4G face off. Steve Bunning watches 23 from the stands. 24

Bill Farrell encounters an offensive opponent Bacon and X vie for the tip as G.C.L. play opens. 23 t :ewusmm ' z1mm'aumm'iqwaimua- t in Basketball snags early season wins As with football, most were skeptical about the basketball team's chances of suc- cess; they considered them too small and not good enough to win. When Taft won the first game - though in overtime e a few thought of many losses to come. But they fought back, and defeated Roger Bacon easily; the girl cheerleaders debuted as they won over Dayton Chaminade. The second loss was to Moeller, but three easy victories - over Woodward, McNicholas and Hamilton Taft e followed. The first part of the season was over; they had won five games and lost two. 4?
