Mr. John J. Brennan Chemistry 33 Trigonometry 4. SCIENCE As We stand on the brink of the Atomic Age, we can readily see that there is an increasing demand for trained scientists. St. Xavier, with a commendable course in science, at- tempts to provide just these people for our country. Laying the foundation in elementary science, Fr. Follen and Mr. Erennen do a capable job in teaching chemistry to juniors. In phy- sics, Fr. Robinson and Mr. Shlueter labor incessantly in an effort to teach the seniors the intricacies of the sub- ject. Their efforts are not in vain, for every student graduating from their course is indeed another potential scientist ready to serve his country in the Catholic tradition. Rev. George R. Follen, S.J Chemistry 3. 4. 1 ta, 'fr 'L L' l I s Mr. Schlueter demonstrates an electro-magnet to Harry Fath, Bob Quatman, Jim Smith, and Ed Lotz.

McAnaW, O'Leary, Slattery and Fathers Kremer and Graf - instruct students of all four years in algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Consisting of such experience and qualified members, it is small wonder that the Saint Xavier math department ranks with the best in the city, as is evidenced by the graduating classes of this and past years. These corn- petent men have succeeded in turning out not only students well trained in math- metics, but also students ready to lead a good Catholic life. , dill' .eve Rev. Charles A.
