5 RELIGIGN The aim of St. Xavier teacher is not merely to produce classes of intelligent, cultured gentlemen. This end, important as it may be, is secondary. The primary purpose of a Jesuit education is to form a Christ-like man. ln Religion classes taught in all four years, the principles .of the Catholic Chruch and of its founder, Jesus Christ, and ably presented to the students by the capable Xavier teachers-Fathers McKenna and Wetzel who instruct fresh- men, and Fathers McCarthy, Brown, De- Christopher, Majerowski, and Lilly who in- struct the upperclassmen. Seniors file back io class from a fire drill under the watchful eye of Father DeChristopher. l Mr. Slattery checks the work of one of his students during a geometry exam.
