Mr. Paul B. Gorman Replacing Mr. Glenn at the be- ginning of the second semester, Mr. Gorman teaches English to freshmen and sophomores. Father Wieber introduces Fathers Meder, O'Kane, and Majerowski at the first meeting of the Mothers' Club. Rev. Stephen A. Meder, S.J. Father Meder can always be found behind the counter in the library. There he is busily check- ing books in and out, filling re- quests for various reference texts, and making the library a foun- tain of wisdom and knowledge. Rev. Edward J. O'Kane, S.J. Father O'Kane has the unusual distinction of being the only American Jesuit of the Latin Rite assigned to the Russian Aposto- late. Formerly connected with the Russian Center at Fordham Uni- versity, Father O'Kane is now teaching religion. Mr. Richard J. Middendorf, S.J. The members of the Radio Club as well as the students of the sen- ior physics classes benefit greatly from Mr. Middendorf's scientific knowledge. Mr. John R. O'Leary Mr. O'Leary, a teacher at Xavier for twenty-seven years, handles algebra, trigonometry, plane and solid geometry with the ease born of long practice.

Rev. Lester A. Linz, S.J. Father Linz's boundless energy has resulted in countless athletic promotion ideas. As Athletic Moderator, he has used every- thing from convertibles to cara- vans to increase school spirit. The Alumni Department crackles with activity under his direction. Father Linz also teaches religion and English. Rev. Leo J. McKenna, S.J. Father McKenna's warm smile and genial personality make him the ideal man to solve the stu- dents' problems. He is the student counselor for the juniors and the seniors and moderator of the Freshman Sodality. Father also teaches religion to seniors and his- tory to freshmen. Mr. John T. McAnaw Whatever the year or the branch of mathematics, Mr. McAnaw teaches it. He is equally at home teaching freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors, whether it be algebra, geometry, or trigonom- etry. Rev. Ladislaus A. Majerowski, S.J. After several years as a pastor at St. Xavier Church, Father Majer- owski again returns to the religion classroom. He is the local repre- sentative for the Jesuits' Patna Mission, and is in charge of Xavier's weekly mission drives. WRX Mr. O,Leary, Mr. McAnaw, and Mr. Glenn find a few spare mo- ments to relax in the teachers' room.

'ex ,, Mr. William F. Rankin Mr. Rankin supervises two facets of the students' education, phys- ical as well as intellectual. He teaches history to freshmen and juniors. In addition, he coaches the football and reserve basketball squads. Rev. Edward F. Robinson, S.J. Father Robinson teaches algebra to the freshmen and plane geom- etry to the sophomores. He mod- erates the Student Council and coaches the tennis team. He also explains the mysteries of dark- room technique to members of the Camera Club. Rev. John L. Uhl, S.J. Contrary to popular opinion, the study of math can be a pleasure, especially if it is taught by Father Uhl. He teaches economics, trig- onometry, and solid geometry. Rev. Joseph A. Walsh, S.J. Father Walsh's extensive studies at universities both here and in Europe enable him to give his students the best fundamentals of a liberal arts education. Fa- ther's classroom subjects are third and fourth year Latin, fourth year Greek, and third year reli- gion. He is also the moderator of the Classical Club. Mr. William C. Schaefer, S.J. A graduate of St. Xavier, Mr. Schaefer never fails to enliven his second and third year Latin classes with his sparkling wit and humor. In the extra-curricular line, he is moderator of the Xavier Prep and the Glee Club. Rev. Edward L. Wieber, S.J. The duties of Father Wieber are many and varied. As student counselor, he is on hand to offer advice and guidance to those who need help. Father Wieber teaches religion to freshmen, sophomores, and seniors, and is moderator of the Mothers' Club. Rev. Kenneth F. Shuman, S.J. Father Shuman, the Spanish teacher, makes that language a popular part of the curriculum at St. Xavier. His quiet, natural ap- proach tp the subject puts the stu- dents in a receptive mood for learning. Mr. George J. Wuest, S.J. All the students of Mr. Wuest will long remember his Latin classes for their quiet, studious atmos- phere. He moderates the acolytes and is also sacristan of the stu- dent chapel.
