The 1953 X-RAY commemorates the four-hundredth anniversary of the death ot' St. Francis Xavier, but in so doing, keeps an eye on the present to see what we can learn from his life. L'Vidit Mirabilia Magna reads the school seal: He saw great wondersf, These words describe in part the motives which urged St. Francis Xavier on as he journeyed across the lands of the Far East, converting and haptizing thousands of pagans, teaching them for the first time the truth of Christ. VVe too, with this motto in mind, are striving to develop within our- selves the virtues of Christ and His saints by means of the Catholic education offered us here at St. Xavier. The knowledge of the sciences, for instance, would he of no avail to us if we did not realize the ultimate end for which these great wonders of the universe were created. Therefore, while we are increasing our store of knowledge in various subjects and developing our talents in the numerous activities found here at school, we are also learning just how all this knowledge and talent can he applied to help us gain our eternal goal, heaven.
