A Message by the President to the Senior Body . . . Our pilots are no longer tiodging ach-ach as they Hy 0n missions over German soit: our sailors no longer scan the horizon of the South Pacitic for the dread pitt hoxes of hostile Japs. Our country is again at peace and industry is gradually reconverting to peace time needs. he im- mediate future bids tair to he an era of opportunity for young men of intelligence, industry, and vision. Prospects toot: hright anct encouraging to the graduates of this year. The graduates of the 1946 class of St. Xavier High School will either continue their academic training in cot- teges anct universities or they Witt enter the scene of life as workers and wage earners. It the former, let them choose an institution of teaming where the principle 0t right and wrong which they tearnt during their high schoot years will not he contradicted, hut Cherished and fostered. It the latter. let them enter the arena of tite. having on the hreast-ptate of faith. their feet shod in justice, and carry- ing in their hands the weapons of righteousness and char ity. Our country is at peace: yet there is hatred and envy. bitterness and vindictiveness in the heart; sin and vicious principles are attied to frustrate the blessings of peace or turn peace into a mockery. There is. need for men with a highly cultivated sense of what is right and wrong. a sense of right and wrong sutticientty refined anti ctetinite enough to make them effective instruments in the morat and spirit- uat reconstruction 0t society: a sense of right anct wrong that is supported by a faith contirmed in content, refined in motive. buttressed in sanction through the tuifiiting revelation at Christ. There is need for graduates of St. Xavier High School who will remain true to the traditions of their Alma Ntater. Page 14
