Intellectual Training . Neither the Army, the Navy, nor the Marines teach Latin and Greek. They do teach the men to he quick in their thinking and accurate in their judgments. St. Xavier High School does teach Latin and Greek. The cultural value of the Classics may not he of importance to the Armed Forces: it is to the individual. There is no one, however, who will deny that the hard discipline required for mastery ot the ancient languages develops the careful and accurate thinking hahits that produce the leaders on the battlefield.
