The entire Catholic world rejoiced as this man was pronounced a saint, for this humble priest rose from the position of a country curate to that of a saintly Pontiff. To him we owe such tremendous achievements as early First Com- munion for children. more frequent Communion for all the faithful, the strong and successful struggle against Modernism, and the renewal of the liturgical life of the Church. Yet, for all these marvelous accomplishments as Pope, Pius remained ever the same humble priest of his early days. dedicated solely to the glory of God. It is to him, then. that we dedicate the 1955 Tiger. For the graduating seniors, Pope Saint Pius X leaves his aim: to restore all things in Christ. Surely, he himself will be our inspiration and example in following his aim and advancing on the road that leads to Christ. With sincere gratitude for all he has done for us, and for all he has done for the Church, we look to him for aid in making wise judgments and for strength to execute them. XVe pray that, humble. as he was, we too may grow in the service of God and devotion to His Church. . v 1 7 . Here we see members of the Saint Xavier Glee Club chanting the Advent hymn while lighting the traditional Ad- vent wreath, the symbol of the joyous awaiting for the coming of the Savior. Students of Saint Xavier, led by the Brothers, in a spirit of penance and hope, enter into the joyful preparations of Advent. The great feast of the Coming of Christ is a special time for us to prepare for His rebirth and growth in our souls. We students realize that it is only by close sacramental union with Him that we can contribute to the restoration of all things in Christ. HOMEROOM 2-204 Firs' row. ef' 'O r'gh': W. Buehne' R. Manual, overcoming an early Tiger lead, ended a two year reign by the X-men. The Bengal harriers took only two firsts in the Regional fracas by Aberg in the 880-yard run and Mike Rhudy in the discus. In the State Meet the Tigers finished in a tie for tenth with ten points on Roth's first in the pole vault and Blockers third and Rhudy's fourth in the discus, Dickie Blocker set a new record for the discus throw against Atherton which he held until the State Meet when it wx is broken again Bengal Sprinter Mil-ce P a consistent winner in the C n tury takes first p ace in the Male Meet S Clearing the Bare-'wermee M r Y-,..f . .-N , ,. , . s ,., , Hr- D,-.
