ff T0 HONOR HIM The modest home of Filippo and Virginia Pacelli glowed with a gay and festive atmosphere in spite of the cold snowy March day that enveloped the Vatican City. The cause of this happy scene? Virginia Pacelli had given birth to her third child, a son. Who, on that wintery day, March 2, 1879, would have thought that helpless tiny infant was to become one of the wor1d's most powerful and influential leaders. This humble and pious man, Eugenio Giuseppe Pacelli, was crowned Christ's Earthly Vicar on March 2, 1939, the 60th anniversary of his birth. It is a long cry from Ga1ilee's to Tiber's shores, but the echo of the Divine Master still resounds: 'Feed My Lambsg Feed My Sheep. Never in history had 1 there been so many shorn and bleating lambs, but rarely before had God in His Providence WX given to their sorrows and their broken hearts one who has merited more the glorious X g .- titlez Pastor Angelicus - Pius XII. With appreciative love for him in our hearts g we, the Seniors of 1959, offer as a tribute to our late Holy Father, Pius XII, our X -- Depaulore. Following the way of Pius XII, we wish to honor, in a special manner, some whom he himself honored especiallv. Our Ladv as Queen of the Universe, St. Joseph, Patron of all Workers, and St. Maria Goretti as a Model of Youth. To do this we have placed those who guide us under the patronage of St. Joseph, the Worker, for our adminis trators surely labor unceasingly to help us in our every undertaking. They become Tnseph helping and teaching Jesus, when they take upon their shoulders the guidance and education of students. Saint Maria is the Model of Youth. lt was she whom our illustrious Pontiff raised tothe altars of the Chuch and placed before us, for all times, as a symbol of youth. For this reason we have selected her to f stand before our classes. To her we pray constantly to help and guide us in our youthful If 1 actions and studies. We only hope that our student body, boys and girls alike, will al- ? X ways remain as pure and good as our beloved Little Maria. We have chosen Our -i Lady, Queen of the Universe tob the guidance instructor of all our Activities fx' I Since she is the Queen of the U verse and watches over all things done, it is only X . .
