ff T0 HONOR HIM The modest home of Filippo and Virginia Pacelli glowed with a gay and festive atmosphere in spite of the cold snowy March day that enveloped the Vatican City. The cause of this happy scene? Virginia Pacelli had given birth to her third child, a son. Who, on that wintery day, March 2, 1879, would have thought that helpless tiny infant was to become one of the wor1d's most powerful and influential leaders. This humble and pious man, Eugenio Giuseppe Pacelli, was crowned Christ's Earthly Vicar on March 2, 1939, the 60th anniversary of his birth. It is a long cry from Ga1ilee's to Tiber's shores, but the echo of the Divine Master still resounds: 'Feed My Lambsg Feed My Sheep. Never in history had 1 there been so many shorn and bleating lambs, but rarely before had God in His Providence WX given to their sorrows and their broken hearts one who has merited more the glorious X g .- titlez Pastor Angelicus - Pius XII.
