So let your light shine before men . . . If we keep this love and light in In this textwe the Seniors of 1958 this light and warmth to others. X f find a challenge from Our Blessed Lord to let the fruits of our years here be the means of bringing others to Him. We realize that by keeping alive and fostering in our own hearts the fire of God's love, the light ofGod's truth, that we shall most effectively diffuse -iii-1-i117 our hearts they will spontaneously and without conscious effort on our part shine before men. . . that they can see our good works and glorify our Father who is in Heav- ell, N .T,, Z OUR SCHOCL St. Vincent's High School is more than the building pictured above to those who attend it. It is the place where our characters were really molded and we emerged as adults ready to let our light shine be fore all men that God may be glorified, Here also we formed loving and strong ties of friendship which have made our lives richer. Into this building we took our joys and sorrows and these have hallowed its walls, Even when we leave this building it will ever be present in our mind and memory as that place in which we spent so many happy hours of prayer, study, and just being with our friends. fi z W ADMINISTRATION They that instruct many unto justice shall shine as stars for all eternity. Daniel 12:3 Christ sent us His ambassadors, divinely commis- sioned, to ignite the light of love for Him by knowl- edge of Him. They have borne us the teaching of the Divine Master by their voices. By their example and gentle guidance the light of His truth and the radiance of His beauty has been manifested to us. x s N 6 9,- 1 N 7 Y V N 7 Our hearts have been inflamed with Christ's divine l V splendor and the promise of eternity. Uohn A. O'Brien, P. H. DJ The light that leads us, God's children, to our ul- timate goal, heaven, shines through our bishops. In the above words of Christ He assures our bishops of a special divine assistance to guarantee the success of their mis- sion of teaching and caring for the flockin their diocese. Although their task is tremendous for the frail shoulders of man, they approach all things with knowledge of Christ's unfailing assistance. Their good example and manifestations of leadership have been a great glowing flame bringing all the faithful into a close union with Christ. PRIESTS inf' --. They are constantly showing us by their ex- emplary lives that we should never cease searching for the knowledge which will make us illuminated in the eyes of God and man. They have shown us that we must seek every opportunity of being beneficial to our neighbor, and thus they have pointed out for us that we too may fulfill this same command' of Christ. -,-.i 1 , x x I x f 1 ' x x x x I o 1 K v l ' REV. Through our studies and the earnest efforts of our teachers the lamp of knowledge has been lighted in us. We must put this light where all men can see it and follow it. For by our example we can lead others to a happier and holier life. But this light of knowl- edge is not enough, itis necessary to reduce knowledge to action. Christ has given us the light to see the truth, now we must have the strength to follow it. All our actions must reflect the infinite brightness of God. By leading virtuous lives we are able to make our light an enduring flame that it may shine, guid- ing others to our heavenly Father. MJ N 7 Y v N 7. ON THIS DAY OH BEAUTIFUL MOTHER The month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. During this month praises are being sung to Our Lady, prayers said, and Masses offered. May is a beautiful time of year and suitable to be Our Lady's month. In our school a great event in May is our annual May Crowning. The purpose of the May Crown- ingisto give honor and homage to Mary and to bring Her love closer to our hearts. Our Lady was the only human being not stained by original and personal sin. With this thought we should try to live a life of purity and goodness. We, the Seniors, will remember this great event throughout our lives. I T If ? S X 5 v X X 7 a X f X x 'ix ,,I 5 l 7,1 H T H E I R F O N DH EO SP TE S We the Seniors look forward to graduation day as the fulfillment of our fondest dreams and greatest achievement, A11 our efforts have been directed to this goal, But now we find it is with some sadness that we leave St. Vincent's and our carefree high school days, ff . . ,A city cannot be hidden if it is built on a moun- tain top. . . Sports, as well as all our other activities, is an im- portant part of our school life. Success can be achieved only if we set ourselves greater goals, higher ideals. Strength depends on the inner spiritual and physical energy of a team. Our team's harmony of co-ordinate action has brought them great accomplishments in the field of sports. But in all their endeavors they have shown awareness of the light of God which is continu- ally with them. Whenever in the spotlight they have manifested high qualities of sportsmanship which are carried over, as an added incentive, into their daily lives as well, These qualities reflect their Catholic training and show them to be imitarors of Christ.
