FOREWORD “Loveliest of lovely things are they on earth that soonest pass away. The rose that lives its little hour is prized beyond the sculptured flower.” The Vincentian staff has chosen the rose as its theme to illustrate how each student, like the rose, lives her little hour at Saint Vincent’s Academy. When she enters St. Vincent’s, she is hut a mere hud. But within the few short years she develops in grace, culture, and knowledge, as the rose does in color. Finally, like the rose, she is prized beyond the sculptured flower, a beautiful flush rose, colored like the dawn. v? • ‘A ' V V —Tv- ' % I v 7 V. . a • .V,U ' t ' ?.. •? •«« rly . Whether we’re with her doing experiments in the chem¬ istry lab. pondering over economic prob¬ lems in sociology, or just waiting to get out of the senior jail at campus capers; one of her humorous remarks or radiant smiles tell us all “Here’s a real friend!” The official tasks she does everyday are acting as sociology, freshman religion, physical science, and chemistry sponsor, not to mention her roll as chief projector runner and fixer. For all these reasons, we, the staff of the 1961 Vincentian dedicate our yearbook to Sister Cabrini with deepest gratitude and respect. “When we desire to confide our words, we commonly say they are spoken under the rose. ” 8 n s faculty 9 Mother Clarissa is Superior of the Daughters of the Cross.
