There is little ques- tion of the part which the writings of Moore have played in the hearts of his countrymen, and, no doubt, will continue to play and thus fulfill the words of one of Moore's greatest admirers, the American poet, Oliver Wendell Holmeszi The land where the staj of St. Patrick was planted, Where the Shamrock grows green from the elif' to the shore The land of fair maidens and heroes undaunted, Shall wreathe her bright heart with the garlands of Moore. On on to the combat' the heroes that bleed - For virtue and mankind are heroes indeed. And oh ev n if Freedom from THIS world be driven Despair not at least we shall jind her in heaven. Linked closely to the -name of Moore are those of Byron Scott Campbell and Rogers. All were contemporaries and Moore was held in the greatest esteem by them, accounting to some extent for the tremendous popularity which he enjoyed during his entire life.
