APEX OI4' '47 PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS ST. VINCENTS HIGH SCHOOL PETALUIVIA, CALIFORNIA Very Reverend james Kiely Aff jlfwltos ffnnos f joyous bells of gold ring out a chant of jubilee to our venerated Pastor, Reverend James Kiely. Fifty years it is since his anointed hands first offered the holy Sacrifice of the Mass--fifty years of zealous and conscientious shepherding of the Master's flock entrusted to his care. What a wealth of treasure he has stored up to meet him beyond the gates of this world where he will be rewarded for the sacrifice he has made of his life to bring the little ones of the flocl-L to the feet of the Divine Shepherd. St. Vincentis has been privileged to claim this venerable and much loved priest as Pastor for thirty-two of those golden years. With pride and grati- tude the Class of the Juloilee Year recount the steps in progress he has made. G17 M Vflh ln l926 the cornerstone for the beautiful church which serves the parish now, was laid. Much care- ful planning brought material from all over the world to make this a fitting shrine for the King of Kings. Statues of Carrara marble from lta- ly and rose windows from Munich surround the altar with beauty which never tires. This, indeed, is a monument to Father Kiely's priestly zeal. Gonuent First of the new buildings to be erected in St. Vincent Parish'Unit was the brick building at the corner of Union and Walnut, erected in l9l5. The com- fortable two story house, modern in every detail, still serves as residence for the Faculty of both schools. gfigh School At the same time that the new grammar school was built, the old build- ing was renovated to serve as a high school. The walls are beginning to bulge with the increased enrollment, and indications are that before too long, it will be necessary to have a larger building to house the students. Then, the much needed and long awaited auditorium and gymnasium will put the crowning touches to St. Vincent's school. , Jr'a,W1,mafr fschool A growing studentbody demanded expansion, so, in I936, the unew' school was built--a Class A building in every sense of the word. Today, steven of the eight classrooms are in use while registrations for next year in- dicate that all eight will be filled. LT QU A FACULTY Sister Mary St. Cyril ...,.. Sister Mary Consolina ,.....
