The freshmen and sophomores discover the values of an English heritage in their studies and activities. Learning to judge television programs is a big project for the freshmen who visit a television studio as part of a field trip. ln the field of literature the English classes complement their study of The M er- chant of Venice by making booklets of the life and works of Shakespeare. The sopho- mores read Julius Caesar, and make their study easier by listening to the recordings which bring the play from the stage to En- glish classroom. Showing their creative abil- ity, the underclassmen Write personal essays and put original endings to short stories read and discussed in class.
