How they have Hownl The moment eagerly awaited hy us since our first entrance into high school ,- has it really come so soon? Qur hearts should he light and gayl Then, who can explain the reason lor this sadness now, tor these teelings ot regret? Happy times were ours at SVF. To lceep these memories with us always, we present our Yearbook ,-4 though filled from cover to cover with achievements, activities, and pictures, it is tar too small to hold all our joys, anticipations, and pleasant reminiscences. Unlilte the rather caretree girls that we were when we first entered these halls ot knowledge, we leave as more mature young ladies, due to the gentle care and guidance ot the Sisters ot St. Dominic. Because ot the wisdom and counsel ot these good teachers, we go forward, thoroughly prepared and faithfully instructed, with Jesus and Mary constantly at our side. Bearing in our minds treasures ot lcnowledge, in our hearts many cherished memories, and on our lips a prayer lor guidance, we take our place in the business world ol today.

eckcafion It is not often that a visitor, so distinguished, arrives in our midst. Since we at St. Vincent Ferreris feel that the Master General oi the Dominican Order has a special claim to our affection, we are very happy, indeed, to have this opportunity ol dedicating our YEARBOOK to the Most Reverend Emmanuel Suarez, OP., S.T.lVl., J.U.D. Born in Herias, near Qviedo, Spain, he entered the Qrder in 1913. Alter completing studies in Collegio Angelico, Rome, he was ordained to the holy priesthood in February, 1921. The hrilliant Worlx ot Father Suarez at Rome and, also, at the University ol Frihourg, Switzerland, enabled him to hold various responsihle positions in looth these places in the capacity ol professor, canonist, and prior. ln Septemher, 19416, at the general chapter convolced in Rome, Father Suarez was elected the eightieth Master General ol the Order ot Preachers, succeeding His Excellency, Most Reverend Martin S. Gillet, OP., who suhsequently hecame titular Archhishop ot Nicea. Vvithin a iew months oi his election, the lvlaster General hegan his visitations to all the provinces ot the Order throughout the world, notahly in Europe and South America. Cn January 15, 1948, he arrived in New Yorlc, accompanied hy the Most Reverend Paul A. Slcehan, 0.13, S.T.1Vl., J.C.D., Procurator General. Father Suarez with Father Slcehan and the Assistant General for North America, Very Reverend Timothy M. Sparlcs, QP., S.T.lVI., has visited the Dominican 0rder's three prov- inces in the United States -I St. Josephs in the East, the Province of St. Alhert the Great in the central part oi the country, and the Holy Name Province in the Vvest. When this great 'Successor to St. Dominion reached our shores, he came directly to the priory of St. Vincent Ferreris. It is with an under- standahle pride, therefore, that we thus honor Father Suarez, assuring him of our continued loyalty and prayers. May the blessing ot God and the loving care of Our Lady he with him now and alwaysl
